This came well packaged, all I had to do was screw the feet on. At 7.9 x 5.8 it is really a great size you can use even in a small space. Out of curiosity I took it around to all my rooms to decide where to use it and found multiple places it would fit in. I eventually put it on a fireplace mantle with an award statue on it and it looks fabulous. I think it would be very cute in a bathroom with a soap dispenser on it or in the kitchen with dish soap or whatever, it’s very versatile. I like the distresses finish and the feet make it so cute. If you had a bigger space you wanted it for I think a couple of these would be cute together. ... show more

This black wood riser is very cute - it has four knobby legs that you can easily attach & a distressed look... and it looks just like the photos. These are very popular & I've always wanted to get one of these risers. They can be very useful, in so many places, kitchen or bathroom or anywhere that you have something you'd like to display. A few points to mention... it is very lightweight & doesn't seem to be high quality. However for the price point of $9.99 at the time of this review, I could be happy with it. It has the look I want & you can't really tell about the material just be looking at it. At least I can't. But there was big one issue with it - it has a bad odor! It came in a small flat box & then sent in a bubble mailer. When I cut open the bubble mailer, there was such an overpowering smell that I didn't even realize it came from the package, really strong chemicals. I thought someone in my building stated painting. When I realized it was in fact coming from this package, I was so surprised as I hadn't even taken it out of the box yet. The smell was strong! It's too cute to throw out, so I put it in my hallway to try to air it out. it has dissipated some. I don't know if this was a fluke, or they are all like this, but it's not good. On appearance alone, I would recommend it But with the odor, I would not. 3.5 stars ... show more

When we saw the antique finish on the edges of this solid wood pedestal legged countertop platform, our interest in this product increased immensely. Antique finishes do that. They lend something new, the status of something tried and true. We are holding a tall lamp on this pedestal to raise it higher above the counter level to distinguish the lights from the work on the counter. The higher placement also gives a wider frame of light to the space. One thing that we love about this product is how versatile such a thing is, and how much it can improve the look and function of the things in the room. This piece definitely lends itself to the farmhouse look but would look great and blend with many other designs. It is distressed nicely around the edges and the four legs have a great curve ending in the foot. All you need to do when you get it is to screw the legs in. It is made well and very lightweight. It so versatile it could be used in any room in your home. I’m actually using it to elevate some towels in my bathroom but as you can see from the pictures there are many uses. Overall, this is a cute “farmhouse style” riser that lends itself to lots of uses. People seem to like them in the kitchen or bathroom to hold soap in pump bottles. I’m not sure the finish on this riser would stand up to a lot of dripping soap. The surface is made of a very thin piece of light-weight wood, which is glued to a frame of thicker wood with legs attaching to that. I wouldn’t put anything too heavy on it. I’m using mine as a stand for a rooster figurine, so no worries about damaging liquids, and the rooster isn’t too heavy. The feet screwed on easily but one is a tiny bit shorter than the others, so there was a slight wobble. I put some stick-on furniture pads on the 4 legs and that took care of the wobble. For my purposes, adding height to a figurine, it’s just fine. As a stand for frameless candles, I think that would work out well. This is one of those “use your imagination” products; there are a lot of things around the house that could be elevated and given a showcase by putting them on this stand! ... show more

This certainly isn't very big, but it is very nice looking. My wife has put a tall flameless candle on it and I have to admit, it does look good. It's all wood and it included a nice thank you card from the makers(?). She likes the "distressed" look and has a lot of decorating uses, according to her. ... show more

First thing I noticed is the edges of this little platform are sharp. When an object is distressed, as this is, I'd expect the edges to be rounded a little, or 'relieved' in the parlance of woodworking. I need to do this. The bottom edges still had little fuzzies of raw wood sticking out. Second thing I noticed is that the platform is not a solid block like a cutting board, it's made of a base and sides, very lightweight, and it's pale, unpainted wood underneath - yes, wood, not plywood. I think I will paint the underneath so I'm not shocked by the rawness. Third thing I noticed is there is no protective finish. If used in a wet area, this piece will rot. When I'm done doing more distressing, I will put a matte varnish overall so it's protected more from water and will put little plastic buttons under the feet so they don't sit in water that inevitably gets on counters near sinks. Overall, it looks pretty much like pictured, it's real wood, and the price is modest, so I think it's a reasonable value for the money, but if you'd like something substantial, that really looks like a treasure from a vintage market, this isn't it. ... show more
