  • HANDS DOWN!!!! The best kitchen shoe on the market!!! NON Slip, No Break In Needed!!!!!
Size: 13 Color: Black/Black
I am a Chef that works on my feel all day long, in a kitchen with wet and slippery floors, not just water but grease as well. I am over 50yrs old and Have been cooking professionally for 34 years. Believe me I know shoes and better yet good-great kitchen shoes. I have for years sworn by another very well known kitchen shoe, one that the whole kitchen crew will know. I am taking the time here to lay out my knowledge and vast experience with kitchen/work shoes. I wear a size 13, regular width. I have very flat feet and suffer from Plantar Fasciitis on and off for years. Now, My review....This is by far the most impressive shoe I have ever worn!!!! Hands down the BEST out of the box comfort "No Break In" needed. They fit secure in the heel and mid foot, then the Keen larger toe box "one of their trade marks" opens up the area around your toes for luxury comfort of your toes. The black leather uppers are supple and pliable....Not work boot stiff! They breath very well. My feet are never hot and my socks are NEVER damp after a 12 hour day. The uppers clean up easily with a damp towel. The Tread on this shoe is completely slip proof! Walking from dry floors into the dish room "wet floor area" and back out, I have absolutely no slipping. Walking from wet floors past the fryer area "greasy floor area" again NON-Slip! The treads are very strong and seem to just stick like they are supposed to. I thought while inspecting these shoes, that it had an interesting inner curve to the bottom of the shoes. The outer sides edges are slightly lower than the middle of the shoe, giving the bottom of the shoe a slight upward arc from side to side. This has to be why they are so comfortable, giving you more comfort on the bottom of the foot. The outside touches first, giving the inner foot more support! FANTASTIC!!!!! After wearing them a month now, I have NO foot pain at all, it has been years since I could say that!!!! I could hug whom ever at Keen said, "Lets make a shoe for the chef or mechanic, or utility worker that just needs a fantastic shoe in a difficult working environment!" I am buying another pair so I can wear them outside of work and on the weekends! Shoes that feel so good should be worn 24/7!! THANK YOU Keen! ... show more

  • And I will walk a thousand miles in you.
Size: 7.5 Color: Black/Black
I bought these for my son who is living in another country and walks TONS. Miles and miles and miles every single day. He walks on horrible terrain, in a suit and tie. Dress shoes were causing horrible foot issues, and these looked so nice. I thought they would be perfect for him. They have been! His feet are not having any more issues and the shoes are sturdy against the bad roads and terrain. ... show more

  • Great for hospital work
Size: 12 Color: Black/Black
I work in a hospital as a supply chain associate. I'm on my feet on many hard floors, sometimes freshly mopped, for 8 hours a day where I put in over 20,000 steps. I need a supportive shoe that will take a beating and won't slip on those wet floors. These fit the bill. They are a lot like the pair of Keen Austin shoes that I eventually wore out. These have a lot stiffer upper. It is a very stiff, hard finished leather vs the soft oil tanned leather on the Austin. First night with them I thought oh no this better soften up or we are going to have a problem and as soon as they warmed up they were fine and have way more support. The real super power of these shoes is the non-slip soles. They stick even on a freshly mopped OR floor. That is always the biggest danger in my job is walking on those wet floors and it is not a problem with these. I’m two weeks in and loving them. Everyone at work is taking notes and probably will be getting Keens with these soles because everyone hates slipping around on those wet floors. ... show more

  • Longer-wearing alternative to the Austin?
Size: 12 Color: Black/Black
I have had these for about a week. I have also owned the slip on PTC (still have them). These are visually similar to the Keen Austin, and I wondered how close they were, so this review is geared somewhat toward others like me who are interested in comparison to the Austin. I have owned a couple of pairs of those, at least, and loved them for daily office wear, casual, hiking, outdoor work... everything. The main difference with these is the sole. The sole is harder, louder on wood floors but not like a clog. It is also seems thicker, which I like just a little less for feel. In the slip on, the tread life seemed much greater than the Austin. I tend to walk on the outside of my heel a little (supinate) and the soft sole on the Austin wears quickly for me in that area. This is what led me to look at the PTCs. The fit is similar to the Austin but maybe a little roomier in the heel. Importantly, for me, the toe area is still roomy like the Austin and other classic Keen models. Another difference is that the cut around the ankle seems very slightly higher, and maybe stiffer. The leather outer surface quality is a little more plasticy and water-shedding on the PTC. I'm not on my feet that much at work, but they feel supportive and comfortable. So far I am very happy with these as an everyday shoe that can handle indoors or outdoors action, and, based on my experiences with the Austin and the slip on PTC, I have high confidence that I will stay happy with them. ... show more
