I love these shoes! I’m a woman who finds men’s hiking boots/shoes fit me better than women’s. I have to use corrective custom orthotics and I need a shoe that holds its shape. I can’t wear sneakers or slippers so I basically only wear hiking boots/shoes. I need a wide toe box and Keens in general have roomy toe boxes. I’ve had Keen ankle high boots for years and I love them but they’re not exactly good house shoes. I wanted a pair of hiking shoes that I can wear only around the house and that I can slip on and off. I tried several other brands before finding these and they’re by far the best and most comfortable for me. The toe box is roomy, my orthotics fit inside perfectly, they’re relatively light weight (compared to my Keen hiking boots but I wouldn’t say they’re the lightest hiking shoes I’ve ever worn. They aren’t the heaviest either.) and they slip on and off easily without being so loose that they slip off on their own. They’re true to size too. I’m a men’s size 9. I bought a size 9 and initially they were snug but they’re leather so you want them to be a bit snug because they’re going to stretch some. I’ve been wearing them for several hours daily; they’re perfect now and very comfortable. It didn’t take long to break them in and I’m sure they’d be too loose if I had bought a larger size. I have worn them without socks briefly (just when I need to answer the door quickly and I’m not wearing socks) but they chafed my skin around the top of the shoes (just under my ankles) so I wear socks with them most of the time. My foot fits fine with tube socks, ankle socks and thin wool socks but very thick socks would probably make my shoes too tight and I wouldn’t want to stretch the leather. The leather is now supple and the shoes are very durable and comfortable. I’m very happy with my purchase and would absolutely buy them again. ... show more

I was looking for something that is slip on as they dont make the Merrell shoes I have used for years. This one isn't quite slip on, and is a bit hard to get on. Once on it is comfortable and feels good. I've worn them about 4 times now and I don't see them getting any easier to put on, but I'm also not seeing any negative difference in their comfort. I bought these again, because the last pair I had lasted 3 years, and I wore them almost everyday, through all kinds of tasks, and all kinds of weather, except really deep snow. The hiking soles are second to none. I've never slipped or fallen. Extremely comfortable. There are some small, slight differences in their manufacture, but it shouldn't affect quality or comfort. They r well made, and I hope they last as long as my previous pair. If I had to say anything bad, they break in hard. Still having a problem just sliding my feet in them. I had that problem with my last pair, and it soon went away. If anything changes for the worse I will change my review, but I think KEEN is a quality shoe and I won't have to. ... show more

Comfortable. Waterproof. Sole started detaching after just less than year. Applied in the Keen website warranty page, and a day later they gave me a credit for the purchase price that can be used on their storefront. The Targhee IV advertise "Keen Fusion", an improved method to bond the sole to the shoe. So apparently I am not the only one with this problem. ... show more

I have been a fan of Keen footwear for decades and have purchased the Targhee III slip on 3 previously times. This is the first time I am disappointed, and it extends beyond the product to include Amazon. As for the shoe itself, the leather is of a lesser quality, thinner especially in the tongue, and the color is considerably different despite the same name from past purchases. The shoe is 1/2 size smaller than prior versions - upon receiving this purchase, it was clearly smaller despite being the same size I always purchase - placing it up against the other 2 pairs I still have demonstrated that - I reordered a 9.5 rather than 9 and placed against prior versions they are the same size. Overall, the shoe disappointing. But more unsettling was that the 9.5 I received was clearly used - it was heavily scuffed on the leather, and the sole was dirty with small stones and dead bugs embedded in the tread. I appreciate Amazon repackages items that are returned - I returned my size 9 this purchase - but I had them on for less than one minute inside on a carpet and returned in new condition. Amazon clearly failed in quality control with my purchase - they sold an obviously abused and dirty product as new. Now the onus is on me to have to remedy their poor customer service. Very disappointed in Amazon for their poor performance as a retailer. ... show more
