this is one of the 4 volumes. I tried to buy the whole 4 volumes for collection purpose. This is a hard copy book with nice heavy duty papers inside, which made all the creations look nicer. I bought Citibloc which is a cheaper version of Kapla but still nice quality for my 4 year old son, and the book is a nice addition to complete the whole set as his X'mas gift. I'm imaginig he will be having fun playing with the blocks and I will enjoy the book. ... show more

Our whole family LOVES Kapla blocks, and has 400 of them that have been in various projects to prove this; however, this book was slightly disappointing. It's really nice to view a picture guide and then try to recreate the buildings. Unfortunately, though, the book is super short, esp for the price. We are not sad we purchased but feeling it's not as meaty as we had hoped it would be. Our newest set of blocks came with a slightly smaller picture guide, too, and if we had known this in advance we may not have bought this book. ... show more

    • Not a instruction manual
I was expecting to find an instruction manual especially when the title said ..."for beginners volume 1". While the pictures are outstanding, this is not remotely something that indicates how to build the structures. It is simply a coffee table picture book. while the creativity behind the creations is wonderful, this is simply a chance for both husband and wife to show off their respective talents. He for taking the photos an she for designing. But really, indicating that book this is remotely instructional or providing guidance is misleading and false. If you are looking to learn how to create these items and thus how to build other creations in Kapla this is not the book for you. If all you want to do is look at some designs that someone else has created (and have no real idea how they used the blocks to create it) then go for it. ... show more

I bought the Kapla book one for my 5 year old grandson. He loves it. He received it much earlier than the stated shipping time.
