Apparently the dinosaurs are a big hit with the middle schooler
I personally have no idea how to play PS5 games, but the middle schooler in our house absolutely loves this one. From what I can tell, you get to build and manage your own dinosaur park, which sounds like a terrible idea if we learned anything from the movies. The graphics look great and it has kept her entertained for hours, which is honestly the real review metric in our house. If your kid likes dinosaurs and games, this seems to be a big win.

A fun game but pretty shallow and grindy
So the premise of this game is you are running a dinosaur park! Your goal is to acquire dinosaurs and put them on display to attract visitors. You will also be tasked with things like setting up concession stands and attractions to generate income, ensure park safety, and take care of the dinosaurs themselves. The problem with this game is no real thought is required? Like building concession stands they have small medium and large. In order to be able to build larger concession stands you have to increase your parks rating and "research" that technology. The game has a very linear, mindless, progression, make more money by building bigger concession stands. The same is true for dinosaurs. You want to attract more visitors? Research fossiles to hatch more desirable dinosaurs. Really not much thought here, just mindless grinding. Theres no hard choices, no trade offs to consider, or real strategy, just grind to get bigger and better things. It's also painfully easy. The very first time I played, knowing nothing and making a host of terrible mistakes that burned money, killed dinosaurs and my park guests I still managed to make a profitable park. It feels like its almost impossible to fail unless your trying to. Basically? If you like a creative game that will allow you to build your own park and you take satisfaction of just designing a park you might enjoy this a lot. If you want a game that will challenge you and force you to make tough choices and struggle on the line between profit and bankruptcy that is not this game.

My son (7yo) is addicted to this game!
The game is tricky to learn for sure but my son 7yo picked up on it really quickly and now is addicted to it. He plays it all the time and figured out different settings so he can make a park and do the typical objectives or he can have complete chaos- release dinosaurs to torment the guests, make the dinosaurs fight each other, and so much more. It’s fun to watch him play this game. Our only complaint is that when he tries to get the game to do too many tasks at one time the game crashes and returns to the Xbox Home Screen. It only happens when he is trying to do too many tasks on the game though.

Addicting game
If you played the original, you'll absolutely love this one. Great fluid gameplay that allows you to interact with a whole new variety of dinosaurs with entirely new settings and objectives. How you design your park and enclosures is entirely up to you as you are put in charge of capturing them from around the world. This game is far more in depth than the original, which means you will have to he more strategic to your approach; while this adds a layer of difficulty, it also creates a more immersive game. Overall, this is an exceptional game that truly challenges you to make difficult decisions in order to create the best park for any given scenario. Would highly recommend.
