Ties are pretty simple things. As long as they meet a minimum standard, it's not always easy to distinguish between an expensive tie and a cheap tie. This "joy alice" tie falls on the "budget" end of the spectrum given its current retail price under $15, but I would have no real way of knowing any difference if they charged double for it. It appears to be decently-constructed and functions as a nice-looking tie. Now, perhaps if I did a very close examination I could find some stitching or tailoring difference between this and a more expensive tie, but for the average man, it's not going to make much of a difference. Also, this tie comes in a set with a handkerchief, cufflinks and brooch, which makes it an even better deal. I do not really wear cufflinks, and I haven't ever felt the urge to wear a brooch, but I guess I now have one if the occasion were to ever come up (note that the color of the brooch is a tad different from the tie/handkerchief). The handkerchief is more useful to me, as I could see myself including that in my look. I'm giving this five stars because it does a great job for its price point. It would probably lose its battle if you directly compared it to a $50 tie, but if you're only looking for a very usable tie in the sub-$15 range, you can't go wrong with this.

Love the color and design on this tie. It’s made of microfiber so it has more of a cotton/linen look and feel. Don’t buy this if you’re expecting a silk look/feel/shine. This ties well, lays flat and the length was fine for my husband who is 6’2”. The accessories are just ok. My husband doesn’t use cufflinks, so these weren’t that important for him, though they seem fine. The pocket square looks good, but the lapel flower was fairly smashed and looked fairly cheap. I’d definitely get this for the tie alone. The accessories are ok, but nothing to write home about.

This is a beautiful tie having a burgundy red and dark blue diagonal color base that I think looks really nice. I wore it to meetings last Sunday and received a couple of compliments on it so I am not alone in that thought. I should say that the red is a color base which I like to wear frequently. My father always said that a red tie will look good with about any suit and I have apparently come agree with that sentiment. The tie has sufficient body to help it wrap nicely and ensure that it will lay smooth and flat after you get that done. Length is a couple of inches shorter than several of my ties and with a 16" shirt collar size the tail length is a bit shorter than my preference. Although I know that aspect of tie and knot management varies with each neck size and method of knotting it is something to be aware of. The tie length referenced measures correctly.
