Description

I love the idea of the product so much. I bought it and ......its not enough space. I have 12 forks, spoons, knives, etc. The compartments aren't big enough to hold more than a qty of 4. I squished them anyways...again because i wanted to love this product so badly....and my drawer got stuck shut because the utensils don't have enough wiggle room to lay flat enough to open the drawer. These are great, and the price was nice for this set (I paid under $20 for set of 2). The only suggestion I would make to the manufacturer is to enclose the different sections further down, because it's easy to cross into another slot if you throw silverware in too quickly and it goes in at an angle. Nothing to complain about, though. It's easy enough to take some care putting silverware away! I loved this so much that I bought one for my mom. She said it fit all the utensils but not the knives. She’s a hoarder so idk how many knives she’s acquired since I moved out in 2020. It’s literally only her, her bf & my little bro that live there & she’s the only one that cooks. Anyways.

Good thing first. The knife block works well for my miscellaneous, differently sized knives. It keeps them reasonably organized, although my steak knives have thick handles so I can't fit as many in the block as I'd like, because the handles take up too much space. That's not the knife block's fault, though. Now the bad things. To the point: the silverware tray is totally useless. I generally more than four spoons and forks out, because I don't want to wash silverware after every meal. But since I have two sizes for each of these items (e.g., salad forks and dinner forks), I can only put about four (5 if I'm lucky) in each slot without them getting stuck in the slots and tangled on each other. Consequently, all my spare utensils (because I have service for 12) are now in a ziploc bag in the back of the drawer, unused. I do have space for 8 knives. As someone else mentioned, the slots aren't divided all the way down, so utensils end up sliding all over. It's especially bad with the forks, because their tines get stuck together. The extra slots at the top are mostly useless, as they aren't enclosed at all so if you stack too many utensils in them, they fall out and slide around. And I still need an extra skinny organizer jammed into the silverware drawer because this tray doesn't have enough space for larger serving forks and spoons, either in the slots at the top (too small) or in the regular slots (too small and shallow for larger utensils overall, plus they're already over-full). Perhaps the most annoying thing is that I like the knife block well enough, but I hate the utensil tray, but I bought them as a pair so I can't return the tray without returning the block. Buy them separately if you want to give them a shot. I've learned that Joseph Joseph items often look really cool, but they're often designed to prioritize asethetics over function. This is a cool looking silverware organizer that can't actually organize anything. You're better off buying something ugly but functional. Storage capacity: 2/5 (not enough at all; adding a star for knife block storage, which is ample and useful). For small spaces: 3/5 (yes, compact... But doesn't fit everything well so you'll need additional organizers, defeating the purpose of a compact tray) Sturdiness 5/5 (seems very sturdy!) ... show more
