Original chain bent and broke when a bolt in the power unit came loose and jammed the drive. Chain was exact size and longer then needed so I have extra. Connecting link works fine. Used Ariens to mow grass and weeds over ruff ground for over four hours, chain never came loose. By the way the Ariens is over 30 years old, so you know the drive gear teeth are worn, but the chain held up. Thanks. ... show more

It worked well after a lot of work done to it but some links were very hard to move and they ended up having week points which cost me money to replace. To fix it I had to wiggle each individual link to insure of a smooth motion.

There is so much #40 chain available on Amazon since 1/2" pitch is so common. It was definitely needed to read up online about chain measurements. Then you must read closely to find out #41 chain has the same common 1/2" pitch but is narrower, which is just what I needed for my riding mower. Then I was glad I also purchased the Amazon suggested Chain Breaker tool to make a shorter piece out of the 10 foot chain suitable for my application. ... show more
