  • I am so disappointed in the quality
I bought these skates for my daughter only 3 months ago and she just called me from the skating rink to let me now the boot of the skate pulled of the soles of the skate. I am so disappointed in the quality. The insides were already getting holes in them and now today, this happens. They look like nice skates but they don't hold up well. I would definitely not recommend these skates. I feel like I flushed $80 down the drain. Hopefully the company will help me out. Have a nice day. ... show more

  • Ladies: How to Purchase the Correct Skate Size
Color: Fleece Size: Adult 7
Ladies, if you're new to figure skating, you need to know that your SHOE SIZE and your SKATE SIZE are two entirely different things. I wear a size 8.5 shoe, and I bought these skates in a size 7, and they fit perfectly. NOTE: Thick socks are NOT recommended for ice skating. Instead, wear knee-length nylons. (Some skaters don't wear socks at all.) For more sizing information, go to the Jackson website, where detailed instructions are provided. Note: As others have said, the laces are TOO SHORT, so I will be buying another pair of laces. And I will most likely have the blades sharpened at my home rink because even to my bare fingers, the blades feel rather dull. All of that said, these skates are a great bargain for skaters who are just starting out or (as I am) coming back after a long absence from the ice. And here are the official fitting instructions from the Jackson web site: "Sizing Guidelines: Jackson skates generally fit 1.5 size down from your regular shoe size." Those instructions worked perfectly for me. ... show more

  • A great BEGINNER skate, please read this before you buy
Jackson makes an excellent skate for several levels. This is a wonderful ADULT beginner skate which does not necessarily mean you have never skated before. I am a 62-year-old woman who has not skated in 30 years and got these to get back on the ice and take a few lessons. I've had these skates for 3 years and maybe 50 hours on the ice and I love them. 1. Low profile boot (sits lower to the ground) better for balance but not for doing really deep side to side leans b/c the boot will come in contact with the ice the deeper you go. A more elevated (advanced) skate is better for this. 2. The toe pick is basic non crosscut and the first pick is not as low as a more advanced skate. This is good for a beginner, so you won't be constantly tripping on the toe pick. But again, the higher toe pick is not suited for jumping, an elevated toe pick is found on a more advanced skate. 3. Sole is PVC which is great for low maintenance (you don't have to worry about it getting wet) but PVC and sole is not rated for any rotation jumps. The ankle and sole are enough for ½ jumps or no rotation jumps, just bunny hops, ballet jumps and so on. 4. Ankle has good support -above a level 15 (which is pretty low) but does not have enough support for jumps (see #3). 5. It has a small flex notch at the ankle for good forward leaning 6. Blade is fully mounted (riveted not screwed) on the bottom so you cannot adjust your blade. If you are a skater who knows you will be adjusting their blade, these are not the skates for you. I recommend a few things. First, these are not hiking boots so don't get nice think fluffy ankle socks for them. Socks that don't go up your calf will slide down constantly and will also cause irritation at the ankle. Socks with texture and thickness will give you hot spots and/or blisters. Knee high nylon support socks work well or skaters' socks. Also, since the boot is fairly stiff around the ankle, try to leave the top two hooks unlaced for the first 10 hours of skating, then lace up one hook for another 5 or so hours and then all the way up. ... show more

  • Competitive skater mom approved
Color: Pink Size: Junior 1
I'm a long time competitive figure skater and occasional skating coach, I generally only where custom or close to custom boots and high end blades. So, when my 6 yo needed new skates I had to decide whether to invest or go with a modest boot and blade. Fortunately, unlike when I started out the lesser expensive skates and blades are great quality and comfort for the price. These are great skates for beginners, the blade although not fabulous are fine, especially if you properly care for them. I would say that these will do fine for any skater up until the time they start doing basic jumps (walts/sow cow) or (two foot/scratch spins) as well as simple three turn elements. As an added note- skates should be snug on the foot- no room to grow, ... show more

  • Great skates for figure skating classes
I bought these for my daughter who is taking figure skating classes once a week. She is in the alpha level class right now so still in the beginning classes. She was using the rental skates at first and was having trouble nailing each new move because the ankles were flimsy, so I committed to getting her a pair of ice skates. The ice skating ring she goes to sells a different version of the Jackson skates but they were more than $100! So when I found these online for less I thought why not. I measured my daughters feet and bought size 3. Right now she still wears a size 2 in sneakers. The size 3 skates fit nice with a little room to grow. I immediately saw a difference on the ice. My daughter (who is 7) was nailing the new moves and was very confident because the boot is very stiff at the ankle. She's only used them for a few classes but they seem very sturdy and of good quality. They do not come sharpened but I was able to get that done at our skating ring for $10. ... show more

  • Like floating on clouds
As figure skates go, these are like wearing clouds on your feet. They are super comfortable. I would say they are about a size and a half too big on me, but I wear 2 pairs of thick socks and that helps. I'd rather have them too big than too small, so I don't mind. I have broad feet and these haven't given me any trouble. There is nothing worse than having aching feet while you're learning to skate and need the stamina. These are awesome! For a beginner skater, these are ideal and I highly recommend them. Stick to your regular shoe size and you should be fine. I ordered up, but could easily have stuck with my regular size and been comfortable. ... show more
