I wanted to add some sliding pantry storage next to my fridge, and I decided to use a bookshelf as a base. If my words make zero sense, take a look at my photos... The ironic bookcase seems to be the perfect choice (though it's only been 2 days): -It was delivered 3 days ahead of schedule -The box looked small for something that's going to transform into 8" x 24" x 70", but it was "perfectly" packed, and in a way that would almost guarantee that there wouldn't be any imperfections. -It went together seamlessly and the sturdiness makes me feel confident with my purchase. This product is far superior to anything IKEA could make in the last 35 years. This bookshelf is made of strong MDF with long screws; unlike IKEA"S paper-mache / glued newspaper that will warp overtime with chintzy proprietary turnbuckles. The plastic back panel reinforcements added a lot of rigidity to the overall structure and will help prevent you from punching through the back (4 per panel x 6 panels = 24 in total); where as IKEA's flimsy single back panel (which is sometimes 2 large pieces with tape in th folded middle) isn't secured directly to the shelves and punches through very easily. I added a handle to the lower 1/2 of the bookshelf rather than mounting it higher in order to prevent the top and bottom from separating over time. I've added a dowel bumper to the lower front of the shelves to prevent small items such as spices from falling off. I plan to add them to every shelf. My floors are in poor shape so I added 6 wheels to assist with any warping that may happen when 1 of the wheels aren't touching the floor. Due to the back panel, it originally prevented me from mounting the wheels closer to the back side. I fixed this by punching through the back of the center wheels. I was then able to mount the wheels closer to the edge. That's it. Good luck! ... show more

Based on reviews on Amazon, I ordered two of these units for my basement rec room office. I was not disappointed. The reviews are accurate. Nice medium/light duty bookcases for this price point. Fit and finish of the materials was exact (everything "lined up" which is often a problem with many "self assembly" furniture items. Assembly directions were clear and accurate. Allow about 1 to 1.5 hours to assemble per case. Assembly requires a hex wrench that was included. I recommend using a ratchet hex wrench to speed up assembly. Bookcases seem pretty sturdy after assembly and lined up nicely when I placed them side by side. The bookcases arrived timely and were well packaged / protected. Highly recommend. ... show more

Because 1 person can't hold pieces and use tools to assemble. I tried and wasn't successful but with help was! It's really nice when it's put together. I won't take a picture or video because pictures and videos are nothing compared to seeing it with your own eyes. I'd buy this again when I get extra money ... show more

I bought 4 of these shelves because I wanted a “built-in” look and also so that I could get rid of all the shelves that didn’t match. These arrived quickly, and are packed very well with thick foam. A couple of the boxes had obviously been dropped but all of the pieces were still intact. My husband and I assembled them together and it didn’t even take two hours. This bookcase was perfect for the size I needed. It took about 2 hours to assemble with easy to follow instructions. It required 2 people to stand up and install safety catch against the wall but otherwise only 1 person to put it together. It’s sturdy and heavy. It’s much nicer than I expected for the price. I had better luck with the brand this time around. It came in a timely manner. It took a minute to figure the purpose for these little things. I put a few of them wrong apparently. I'll just fix it later. When I find the screws I dropped. It was kind of awkward because I had to do solo. But It turned out well. Now I just need to put the second one together. It's a bookshelf. It stores books and other stuff. Pretty sturdy, should be more than sufficient for the job. It's basically 2 sets of 3 shelves, with 4 screws that connect the units.
