  • A Practical Guide to Choosing Watches with Lasting Value
This book isn’t about flipping watches or getting rich quickly. The author approaches watch buying and collecting from a value-oriented perspective—focusing on how to choose the right watches to buy, assuming you genuinely like the watch and plan to wear it. The bulk of the book provides examples of watches worth owning, along with the author’s reasoning behind each choice. This, in my opinion, is the most valuable part. While you don’t need to buy the same watches, it’s highly useful to understand the author’s decision-making process. The author's main point—which resonates with me—is that buying the right watch at the right price is key. After enjoying the watch for some time, if the owner decides to sell it and makes a profit due to that initial thoughtful choice, it naturally becomes an investment. ... show more

  • A thorough and up-to-date guide to today's horology market, with a view toward the future.
This book was written at one of the most volatile times in the history of horology. From the ongoing obsession with luxury watches fueled by the cryptocurrency boom (and now bust), the shortages caused by pandemic buying and the endurance of Rolex as the brand of choice among new collectors, it's almost impossible to predict where things may go. As a veteran of the industry, Marc provides insights few others can, casting his astute eye to the long term trajectory of this unique store of value. If you're a collector, an investor or just interested in watches, I highly recommend this as a read - it's fantastic. ... show more

  • This book is very very very very good
I will suggest to all watch collectors and investors to read this book. It costs around $30 but significantly saves you from buying the wrong watches. This book will help you manoeuvre the right path in your watch collection journey. Sometimes, I wish to have this book earlier to prevent me from splashing all the cash on the wrong watches. Well, better late than never to read this book. I have read it from cover to cover. And continue to return to certain chapters to refer more when I need a reference. It is highly recommended. ... show more

  • Great, informative read.
Knowledgeable author. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though I’m not planning to treat my watches as investments. Now I just have to find that 7900v in blue :)

  • The only book you need if you are interested in buying a watch or starting a watch collection
I wish I had had this book when I started collecting watches. It would have prevented me from making many mistakes. The book is full of useful advice for the newbie as well as the seasoned collector. I particularly enjoy the many, many specuific examples of watches illustrating the author's advice on what and how to buy collectable watches. These examples are all presented with succinct summaries and in a easily referenced format. The author has written this book in a very straightforward and easily digestible way. It is a pleasure to read and you can learn something new on every page. Again, i only wish the author had written this book about 20 years ago, but I guess we can't have everything. ;-) ... show more
