Description

The Orbitwheel is a new concept for wheeled sports and the idea is simple: two feet, two wheels…and you’re ready to go! A set of Orbitwheels is a cross between a skateboard and pair of inline skates - but with more freedom and simplicity than either. When you're ready to ride, simply put your foot in the wheel and away you’ll go. The wheels' large radii allow you to ride on a variety of different surfaces, and an all-new connecting band makes learning easier than ever! After you have mastered the wave-like propulsion, you can remove the band for amazing freedom of movement. With the Orbitwheels whirling around your feet, you’re capable of countless tricks and maneuvers that can be as complex and creative as your imagination! The Orbitwheel is, in a nutshell, a large wheel that rotates sideways around your foot. Better than skateboards, Orbitwheels are self-propelled by the rider's wave-like motion so the need to push off the ground every few feet to get moving is completely eliminated.

  • This was one of the most disappointing... and then one of the most exhilarating purchases I have made on Amazon!
I bought this for my 11 year old son who simply was... disappointed. However, I took it on myself to show him that this would be a lot of fun. After three hours of attempts over 3 days I was convinced that the product was a hoax and in fact impossible to use... but I didn't give up. I went to a mildly sloped sidewalk and pushed off and maintained a few meters of "sidewalk surfing" to my own surprise! I've now been practicing an hour a day for the last week and can sustain up to 100 meters of "sidewalk surfing" or "orbiting", as I call it, after which I need to walk for a while to loosen up my legs which get quite tense from this activity. Riding these draws a lot of attention and everybody is amazed at this new sport! I'm sure many of the people who asked me about these will be coming to Amazon to purchase them. The Orbit Wheels are sturdy and well built. They are quite scuffed up now but still look good overall. I applied some oil to the inside of the wheel which has helped them glide better as they were binding against the roller bearings. The bearings themselves are sturdy and well sealed and should resist entry of dust. I would advise against going in sand, dirt, or water however. The included instructional video is helpful but vague and doesn't explain what to do with the connecting rod that is included. My final advice is to buy them if you are determined and fit. Allow several hours of practice over a week to get the feel and build up strength and co-ordination... They're awesome! ... show more

  • so we thought that these would be a good present for him
They are difficult to learn to ride. We have a 13 year old we bought these for, and he is a ripstik rider, so we thought that these would be a good present for him. He does like them, and did learn to ride them, but he says they are nothing like riding a ripstik (like I thought they would be), and they take a lot of inner thigh muscle to ride when you do learn them to keep the wheels together. So his legs wear out fast and can't ride them for longer periods of time. But he says they are still fun, so it wasn't money wasted. ... show more

  • Still trying to figure out out
I thought these would be easier to learn, but holy Hannah montana, it's still a challenge. I can't figure out out, but would imagine these would be fun once you find a good rhythm

I got this for Christmas last year and I think they are great! I'm thirteen years old and thought this would be a fun thing to learn. The first week was pretty tough but I kept trying and I eventually got it. It took me another few weeks to really get it down. Overall it took me six weeks. You need to have time and patience to learn to use these. It is similar to a Rip stick but a little bit harder because you need to be constantly careful not to do the splits! =) When you are first learning it helps to hang on to the furniture. If you are discouraged at first keep trying! I really have fun with these and I hope you do too! ... show more

  • they will enjoy these. But they are very difficult to master
My 14 year old son, who picked up the rip stick within minutes and could ride almost anything, has a very hard time with these. We hoped that he would be able to learn the trick to riding them quickly, but it's not happening. We are returning them. I think for those who can learn how...they will enjoy these. But they are very difficult to master. ... show more

  • Wacky skates.
I wish I had done my research on these skates before I purchased. They are very hard to learn. Most definitely wear knee and elbow pads and helmet. Because you will definitely fall quite a bit.

  • Back on the box for now
My fourteen year old begged for these; they are difficult to maneuver! They were attempted once on Christmas Day and have been retired to their box. I hope she will decide to give them a other chance! They would likely be fun for an accomplished skater:skateboarder. To her dismay they are KID powered. ... show more

  • Would only give to someone I didn't like
Got this (Inventist Orbitwheel Skates) as a gift for a 20 yr. old. He gave it a try for about 10 minutes and had no interest in continuing. They are virtually impossible to use without risk. Gave the skates 2 stars only because they are so absurdly inappropriate for almost any application that you do actually get about 2 stars worth of entertainment from the 10 minute, high risk introductory effort. Would not even donate these to charity since a. I'd be putting someone else in danger, and b. I'd be spreading disappointment rather than happiness. ... show more
