  • Super Stable!
I decided that 2019 would be all the brighter with more music! So, after a "short" hiatus of 44 years, I rented a full-size 'cello and found a teacher. This stand is heads above any I have used before and easily surpassed my expectations. My 'cello is safe and secure, the stand is solidly built, easy to use and stable. As an added bonus, because my instrument is out of its cumbersome case, it is getting played a LOT more! ... show more

  • Adquate but not great for bass
Adequate best describes this stand for use with a double bass. While it does manage to hold my bass with the endpin extended, it does so barely. I have to raise the thin lower arms quite a bit and extend the neck holder all the way to accommodate the height, which highlights how janky the construction is -- some of the pieces are not straight, the stand tends to wobble, components and connection points aren't super sturdy, etc. The thin padding protecting the lower body and back will definitely wear out and give way to metal-on-finish scratching (or even gouging). The bright side of the cheap painted metal construction is that I was able to bend some parts and get it hold the bass evenly and level. I bought this for convenience, but if you had the time / tools, you could certainly make a better stand for cheaper. As it is, I think it's more suited for holding a cello than extending for bass. ... show more

  • It's all about that bass
I'm using this to hold my upright bass at home and at church. It's large enough I can put my instrument on it with the endpin extended where I use it. I prefer this over laying my bass on its side, as the finish was starting to scuff up from doing so. It's collapses to a more convenient transport size, though it is still a little awkward to tote around with the hook at the top and nothing to hold it in the folded position. The screw that holds the extension tube for neck of the instrument is faced with a rubber/plastic piece. This piece bends right away and is difficult to use. I cut mine a bit shorter so it wouldn't bend, and that seems to have helped. It would be nice if the legs locked open. I do very much like that bar that locks your instrument into the stand at the top. ... show more

  • Been using for years- best for cello
These stands are great for cello! The bow hook keep it safe, and if you take the time to make sure it is securely adjusted and the arms are level then you're good forever. They're also lightweight, I have taken mine with me to gigs where I had to instrument swap and needed it handy but safe. From first hand experience, I think basses don't work as well in these as cellos but they're still pretty good. If you're a bassist just take extra time to make sure everything is tight. Because of the size and weight of the instrument, a bass will also wear this out quicker. I've had the same one for 5+ years for my cello and there are no signs of wear. One that was being used for a bass looked pretty worn after about 1 year. ... show more

  • So happy I decided to order this for my son
So happy I decided to order this for my son! Taking his string bass in and out of the case daily to practice was a time-consuming pain in the neck. Plus, I had a giant case laying on the living room floor all the time. Now he take the instrument out of the case when he brings it home from school, we tuck the empty case in a closet, and his instrument can rest in the stand for the week until he has to pack it up the following week for lessons. It looks better and is convenient. I find he practices more frequently and with less grumbling. ... show more

  • Metal arm sheared off after 3 months
This stand looked great in the beginning. It was a little more expensive than some others but had nice features. Then a couple days ago as my wife was placing the cello back in the stand, the left arm just fell off. It's nothing fixable. The metal just sheared off. There's a URL on the stand so I tried to go there but the web site doesn't exist. So we're just out $70. It's great that it works for some people, but for us, this was an extremely poor value, plus the cello could have been damaged had she not been there when the stand gave out. ... show more

  • Disappointing
I had such high hopes for this stand. Trying to find an affordable, durable and decent looking stand for my upright bass has been tough. This one fit the bill and everyone has such raving reviews about it! After a week of use, there is already a tear in the rubber of the bottom stand. Bummer. Will probably return which again brings me back to my search. If you have an upright bass and intent to take it off and on the stand daily, look elsewhere. This one might be too soft. ... show more

  • May be best on the market.
I would not hesitate to buy this stand. It does a fine job for a cello, I can't say whether it's suitable for a bass. The only real issue that I found is the thickness of the metal on the legs. The bracket adjusting screws will dent the metal on the legs. If you don't adjust them much, I don't suppose that it will be a problem, but I can see an issue if the metal gets bent to often. If you don't tighten the supports enough, they will slip. Tightening enough to hold, will bend the metal. The stand seems to be the best on the market, I would buy again, matter of fact, I have two. ... show more
