  • Works great for a beginner!
I am new to making pearls, and I used this as my first attempt. I did lemon pearls first, which came out great. I wanted my rum pearls to be a stronger flavor so I adjusted the recipe and it ended up with a mess. So I tried them again following the recipe exactly, and they came out great. So the moral to the story, it to follow the instructions written by the experts. I'm excited to try more flavors. ... show more

  • Soooo much faster and consistent than traditional methods
Being used to making pearls using a squeeze bottle, I ordered a Spherificator which was claiming to do hundreds of pearls per minute. Sure enough, after reading through the instructions and adapting my recipes to use sodium alginate and calcium chloride I was pumping out all sorts of different pearls in no time. For users not familiar with spherification, it takes a little bit of patience and trial-and-error to figure out the proper mixes but once you nail down the right viscosity of the alginate mixture before pouring into the Spherificator you will get it right ever time! I was making some Jagermeister pearls for an event and they turned out perfectly. I found the recipe in the booklet recommends using sodium citrate for the alcohol pearls, but I did it without and didn't have any issues. For all you Jager lovers, here is the recipe: 1. Blend 1 teaspoon of sodium alginate in 100mL of water 2. Pour in 200mL of Jagermeister, blend 3. Pour the mix into the Spherificator 4. Separately, dissolve some calcium chloride in water to make your salt bath 5. Spherificate and rinse As you can see from the photos, the pearls turned out perfect and it took no time at all. Doing this many pearls by hand would have taken much, much longer, and would not have been all the same size. I decided to put them on top of a cold brew coffee with whipped cream. Exactly what I was looking for, would highly recommend. ... show more

  • Clogs after one use
The Product was particularly poor functioning, it worked for the first 15 seconds I used it and then proceeded to fail after. The droplets began sticking to the side of the device due to surface tension and just streamed off in a line. This could not be fixed any way I tried except for leaving the device for an extended period of time. I tried multiple things the book suggested like cleaning the tubes out, lowering the viscosity of the alginate solution, and checking for any kinks in the tubing and it didn’t work after about 2.5 hours of trying. It’s more worth your time and money to buy a syringe and do it by hand. The only thing I possibly like about the product is that it came with ingredients so I could use them with something else, and it came with a very useful and informative book. Still irritated about paying 100$ for some chemicals and a book though. ... show more

  • Wrong Power cord
The power cord sent with the Spherificator does not work in USA. It has markings on it for Canada and European use even though the actual prongs look like USA prongs. No adapter I have for foreign countries makes it work. I know it functions because a similar USA power cord I have for another appliance when plugged into this item allowed it to work. I have contacted Cedarlane and they advise they no longer own this product and that I should contact Amazon to supply the correct USA power cord. Please be advised that I will put a payment hold for this item on my credit card until I receive the appropriate cord. Jennifer S Shumaker ... show more

  • Easy to use, fast output, excellent result
First the customer service is terrific. The first unit had a defect, I sent an email and got a response the very next day asking for proof of purchase (invoice) and by the following week I had a new unit in my hands. I proceeded to make coffee caviar because I thought the viscosity of the coffee would be a good starting point to familiarize myself with what the consistency should be like. I followed the directions exactly and you can see the results in the photos. If you can follow a recipe you can do this easily. The cleanup was a cinch. Can’t wait for my next dinner party-burrata caprese with Tomato caviar 😀 ... show more

  • Great product, AMAZING customer service
I got this product around a month ago and loved it from the moment I got it. I've loved cooking for a while but only recently got into the idea of plating and this really helped with that. I would definitely recommend sticking to the recipes in the instruction booklet to begin with cause it's easy to get excited and try improvising and ending up with mixtures that are either too thick or too thin, but it's really super fun to play with and elevate your dishes ... show more
