When first opening the package, my expectations were met and I was some-what satisfied... it didn’t really look like they put much thought into this product and just slapped some sh*t together. To be honest, though, I wasn’t expecting a whole lot when I ordered this as it was only $15... but I figured it would at least keep the bugs out! Once installed on my intake, I noticed my lights seeping through the seams in areas it shouldn’t have.     • Better than what I expected.
The pictures for this item are lacking (although, I am not providing anything better). That said, I am very happy that I decided to buy these screens. They fit very snug on 6 inch ducting. so snug, I recommend turning them inside-out and rolling the edge of the screen over the end of the ducting to get them on. They have a draw string and tight elastic ring for a very secure fit. I was afraid these would be flimsy and cheap -- I was mistaken. I am shocked by the design and construction; well more than what I thought I might receive. I am glad I took a chance on these. Not sure how effective the charcoal is, but the air flow is great. I barely notice any reduction in flow. Also, the netting is tight and restricts pests from entering the grow-tent. It is also great, because it also helps reduce/eliminate light transfer between 2 connected tents. I would definitely recommend these to others and will buy more in the future. ... show more

    • Currently overpriced and "sock" area too short.
I need to buy 4 of these, but the 6" was over $13, so I ordered one and glad I did. It is well made, but the lip that goes over the edge is only 1" deep. The drawstring lacks the plastic lock I assumed it had (my bad) you just tie it like a shoelace - so I think it will eventually get sucked into the duct and hit the in-line fan. For safety, I'll use a 6" hose clamp on it. If they were $5-6 each I'd buy more, but it's just not worth >$13. First time I've been (mildly) disappointed in a Hydrofarm product. ... show more

    • So simple but so important!
I bought this bug shield for the intake hose going into my grow tent to prevent any dust or insects from getting into my tent and it was so simple to get set up and it made my life so much easier for an affordable price. As a comparison I made one myself out of an old sock and I can say that the Hydrofarm bug shield is so much easier to clean off when dust builds up and the carbon filter layer prevents odors from getting through which is a great bonus. From someone who has made their own bug shield I can honestly say that for the price this is definitely worth it because it’s a much higher quality then most people could make on their own (me included). ... show more

    • I was sent a "Black Ops" bug screen.
I was sent a "Black Ops" bug screen from MonsterGardens instead of this one by accident, and I'm kinda satisfied. I am not unhappy about it, infact, I'm more pleased about the purchase. Not only does the BlackOps bugscreen keep most of the tiny gnats out of the reflectors and tents, it has a "black out" attachment to help reduce light leaks attached by velcro, and the little can fan I'm using is even strong enough not to have increased pressure, so this Black Ops bug sceen with the black out screen is breathable and I could feel air being drawn in like it should. Good experience. Will be getting 2 or 3 more so I can begin my passive airflow system again. ... show more

Just look at my photo. It's and 8x8 inch square of quarter thin mesh, cut roughly by hand! See the scissor marks? There's no drawstring. No nothing. Just a flimsy piece of useless mesh. Ridiculous!!! I guess they count on this one not being worth your time to return...

Bought two for covering intake and exhaust fans to keep bugs and debris from sucking inside an enclosure. Would have given it a higher rating if it wasn't so tight a fit. It was a bit of a struggle to attach to two different 6" fans. Need to increase the opening by 1/16" to allow for easier attachment. ... show more
