This pessoa works great on my less excitable horses. The clips/rope is attached by little rings so it is adjustable, but I tend to use this on my 17 hand thoroughbred and the ropes are at the end so there is no longer length, so when he gets frustrated or excited he often loosens the ropes and the untie themselves. It isn't the strongest pessoa I have owned, but it does its job and I got what I paid for! By no means am I saying this is a bad product, because it is not, it just needs a few adjustments to be used to the fullest! Don't get me wrong, I love this product and use it on a daily basis, just keep in mind if you have a larger horse this may not be the best suited pessoa for you. ... show more

I don't think this training aid is bad, but it could stand some improvements. The metal clips do not hold adjustments very well - I think those are what could really use some improvement. My mare nodded her head at the canter, and that seemed to cause one of the clips on the rear to come undone, which led me to believe that the clips do not have the best hold for much pressure above average. I'm lucky to have a warmblood mare who is not spooky - the Arabs I grew up with would have flipped out - the rope was left to fly wherever it pleased alongside the horse. I think the manufacturer should provide a few extra metal clips in case it does come undone - they are near impossible to find when that happens. I got about 8 uses out of it before that happened, and I checked the equipment pretty well before each use (paranoia from learning the hard way growing up with silly over-reactive Arabians :P ). All of that said, I was happy with it until this happened, and I would have probably stayed relatively happy if I had a way to fix it afterwards, but alas, the clip is lost somewhere in the deep sand of the arena. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Great product! Works just as advertised, really helps my horses understand how I want them to carry themselves. I use it on multiple horses from 14hh to 17hh. If your horse is large (17hh+) you may need to get extra rope to add some length but it’s worked for me. My only dislike is that to get everything even takes some time as the adjustment is just slipping the ropes through keepers with no markers or such to know where you’re at. I just used a sharpie in 1 inch increments to ensure a consistent adjustment for when I have my students using it. ... show more

Fits well on my 16.2 Oldenburg mare. Exactly the same set up as a Pessoa Training Rig, but the buckle and snap quality is not as good as Pessoa's or even Dover Saddlery's. If you're looking for a cheaper Pessoa rig option though and think it will only get light use, it's a great purchase. Color of actual product does not match the color pictured. It's obviously a big savings over the original Pessoa system and some things are noticably not the same quality. The metal keepers to adjust the length are not creating enough friction for the ropes to stay shorter. When the horse repeatedly puts pressure on the ropes the length adjusts back to the end of the buckle. I am pretty sure it can be fixed with bending the clips a bit more. Otherwise well worth spending less on the same training aid. ... show more

Like many others, I had an issue getting the sliders to stay in place. Instead of bending them, I wrapped some tape around the rope to make it wider and also mark where I wanted it to fit my horse. Otherwise I have no complaints!
