    • *Cute game calculator & simple enough to use, but the volume could be higher on it!*
I got this for my 8-year old son since he likes dinosaurs & is having some trouble with math since he doesn't particularly like doing math (who really does, lol)...so I thought this would be a fun way for him to practice his math skills without it feeling like "school work." He liked the dinosaur design of it & that's definitely fun & cute, but the volume is just a bit too low on it. There's 2 settings for volume on the on/off switch, but even on the higher volume setting, it's still kind of hard to hear unless the room is pretty quiet. (Which is funny, since most children's toys tend to be too loud & annoying lol!) And the voice on the calculator isn't the easiest to understand since it isn't a native speaking American voice. So those are the areas where this could use some improvement is all & that's why I took a star off of it. But other than that, he's used it a few times, it charged up relatively quickly, & I hope the game aspect of it keeps his interest long enough for it to be useful for reinforcing his math skills in way that's more fun & interesting for him! I figured it was worth a try & even if it just helps him some with his math skills, then that's a plus in my book! :) (I know I wish I had something like this as a kid since I hated math too, lol!) He also wants a regular calculator now as well, which I've already ordered for him, so items like this can at least help to renew a child's interest in a subject they may be struggling with & can help to make it a bit easier for them! I used a children's "teaching clock" to help him learn how to tell time & he really liked the colorful clock & it made it much more easy for him to remember how to tell time & with that clock he learned how to tell time accurately in just a few days! So sometimes just little, fun "teaching" aids like this can really help! :D I just hope this one holds his interest & remains something he continues to use. Only time will tell! The dinosaur design of it is definitely cute & is a plus for kids! He didn't seem all that interested in the "music" part of it...that's more for younger children to enjoy probably...but I like that this has varying levels of difficulty so that a younger child can use it with the easier levels on it, & an older child can use it with the more challenging levels, & can even use it for multiplication & division. And it's simple enough for a child to learn how to use it once you show them how (it comes with instructions...I just wish the printing wasn't so darn tiny on the instructions to read, geez.) If your child keeps interest in this, it can be a fun learning aid for quite a few years hopefully (as long as it lasts) & if they keep coming back to it! :) ... show more

This cute pink dinosaur math toy also comes in blue for boys, just in case you don't want pink for your son. This is an excellent educational toy that makes learning math fun. In addition to teaching addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication, it has puzzles, music, and makes learning math fun. I've always loved math but remember nothing from my college calculus classes, so I'm enjoying watching the kids learn the basics in a fun way. There are three games in this dinosaur toy, all based on mathematics, and each game has five levels. My kids have taken this as a personal challenge and love to play with this while they learn. It's also excellent for travel or running errands, as it gives your kids something to do. The concepts this dinosaur game includes are memory training, contrast numbers, and observing a pattern of numbers and then finding the next one. There are also the basic 4 ideas of math, going all the way up to two-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The best part of this dinosaur math toy is, of course, it makes learning math fun. My only problem with this math dinosaur is all on me: It's 6 x 5 x 1 inches, and I wish it was an inch longer in every direction. My children can see everything just fine, but on the rare occasions when they ask me for help, I am reminded that I haven't adjusted to my new bifocals yet because the numbers are hard for me to see, but that problem will improve. This would be an excellent stocking stuffer or an extra gift in a child's Easter basket. They enjoy learning math this way because they get interested in it as a game and then they don't want to stop. I love mathematics, always have, and I love to see children learning to use math and have fun with it. Excellent product, a dinosaur-shaped mathematical learning toy that teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, all the way up to two-digit problems in all four areas. This toy makes learning math fun; the kids see it as a game and as a personal challenge. It comes with its own charging cord but no charger, but that's usually not a problem these days.
