    • Misleading description, does not accommodate legal size folders.
Very 1st bullet point reads: MOLDED CHESTS – Honeywell waterproof fire-resistant chests are perfect for the safe storage of letter and legal documents, USB Flash Drives, DVDs, CDs and more. Intentionally misleading since it only accommodates letter size hanging folders; NOT LEGAL. Size of the unit being over 16" wide in conjunction with that above statement is clearly intentional.     • A sense of security
I did a lot of research both on and off of Amazon before buying this safe. The Honeywell units seemed to stand up to fires the best in product testing, but the standards and models are always changing so I encourage you to do your own research too before deciding which safe is best for your most valuable things. Also, it's fun to watch people put safes into controlled fires and then bust them open. Overall though, this safe has a great amount of storage space for the value on Amazon. It's very heavy and would not be simple for someone to carry away quickly because there's also not a great way to grab onto it. That being said, there's no way to bolt it to anything either so it just needs to sit on it's trolly, which I actually like and find to be very convenient. I was mainly concerned with fire protection over security when I choose this safe and would probably have leaned toward something with a keypad entry and wall attachment option if security was my biggest concern. I paired this safe with a "fireproof" envelope inside too, to help extend the protection a little longer. This safe does state that it needs to be locked in order to provide protection and I'm guessing that is because the latches are actually made of plastic and would burn up more quickly than the rest of the safe. The locking latch mechanism is metal and this type of build seems like the industry standard. Also, be sure to put some silica gel packets into the safe to prevent moisture buildup and remember to open and air your safe out from time to time. ... show more

    • Came with cracked outer plastic, but otherwise good.
When this arrived the outer plastic shell of the safe was cracked, and you could see the concrete inner wall. Seemed to be in good shape otherwise, so decided to not go through the hassle of returning it. Decent amount of space inside, latches and locks well. Other reviews of fire safes often mentioned mold or mildew so I threw a big desiccant packet in there, and so far no issues. Havent had to actually test it against fire and hopefully wont have to (knock on wood) but so far, so good. ... show more
