Description

One of the hardest working shoes in the HOKA lineup, the Bondi 9 delivers peak plushness for everyday miles. Overhauled from top to bottom, we’ve increased the stack height and added a new premium foam midsole to deliver that soft, resilient ride that’s become synonymous with the Bondi. Elevated with a 3D molded collar and structured knit upper with zonal breathability, this ultra- cushioned cult favorite has been finished with Durabrasion rubber to combat high wear zones.

  • Maximum Plush Support for Knee and Leg Hardware—Just Make Sure to Buy the WIDE Version!
Size: 8 Color: Black/White
If you deal with heavy lower-body swelling, lower back pain, or have medical hardware and screws in your legs from past surgeries, finding a shoe that absorbs maximum impact is mandatory. This shoe delivers on comfort, but it has a specific fit requirement you need to know about. The standout feature of version 9 is the updated premium midsole, which uses a super-critically foamed EVA. It gives you an extra 2mm of stack height compared to older models. The shock absorption is phenomenal. Walking on a hard treadmill or concrete feels less like a harsh impact and more like a resilient, springy roll. The built-in MetaRocker geometry naturally rolls your stride forward, taking a ton of pressure off your knees, ankles, and lower back during longer 30 to 40-minute sessions. While the cushioning is peak plushness, the standard medium (D width) version of the Bondi 9 is notoriously narrow through the midfoot and toebox. If you have feet that naturally swell after walking, or if you previously had to wear a Wide in the Bondi 8, do not buy the standard width. You absolutely must buy the Wide (EE) or Extra Wide version. Going with the Wide provides the necessary accommodating space so your toes aren't rubbing against the front corners when your feet expand. Pros. Maximum plush stack height delivers elite shock absorption for joint hardware.MetaRocker sole geometry takes the pressure off your lower back and ankles. The 3D molded heel collar holds your ankle stable with zero heel slippage.Knit upper provides excellent zonal breathability to keep your feet cool. Cons. The standard model runs quite narrow, forcing many users to buy the Wide variant. It is a bulky, wide-framed shoe that is optimized for slow, steady recovery paces rather than fast running. For pure impact protection and all-day walking comfort, the Bondi 9 is a gold-standard shoe. Just save yourself the exchange hassle and buy the Wide width right out of the gate if your feet are prone to swelling! Great arch support. Easy to put on. Color is perfect. And easy to clean. ... show more

  • Game changer for the treadmill
Size: 8.5 Color: Black/White
I bought these specifically for my treadmill workouts, and after taking a little time to break them in, they are easily the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They provide incredible support, and I’ve noticed they actually help guide and improve my stride while running, something I didn't even know a shoe could do. If you spend a lot of time walking or running on a treadmill, these are worth every penny. ... show more

  • Fun fact: the men's shoes in this style are more cushioned than the women's ones🤨
Size: 10 Color: Pale Tangerine
...and I know this because I tried on a pair in my size (10D American/44 European) at my local store to compare them before I bought these. The women's version also have - in my opinion - prettier colors. Even when they're supposedly the same color, they look different. Like, the all white women's Hoka Bondi 9s are a bright white, while the all white men's version of them are slightly off-white. Reminds me of how it looks when you throw something white in the washer with other colors, and it comes out looking a little dingy😂 I found out I'm only a size bigger (11D Wide) in the women's shoes...which is interesting to me, since I'm typically two sizes bigger but not wider when I wear women shoes instead of men's. You may be that way too. The associate at the store I went to advised me to go by European sizes as opposed to my American one because they're more standardized. Seems like solid advice, especially when I was two different American sizes in men's shoes (I also tried on some Brooks), and yet my European one remained the same for both. Throwing all of this out there for anybody who might be a similar predicament and/or have issues with buying shoes online because of the potential error in sizing. Anyhow, I got these Hokas because they were recommended to me by a friend who's on his feet all day doing construction, then comes home and will casually do a half marathon in the middle of the week. (Crazy, I know.) He, like me, has wide feet and likes a lot of cushion in his shoes. Now I freely admit I don't know anything about walking or running shoes - still fairly new to the fitness world - but he seemed like a good person to take advice from under the circumstances. I will say that I have not been disappointed! These Hokas are even more gorgeous in person! They came with an extra set of laces in addition to the ones shown as well - those were a very pale peach color that matches the top of the shoe. Thought that was nice. These shoes have proven to be very suitable for both walking and rucking. As of the date of this review, I've put 137 miles on mine (100 indoor rucking with up to 46 lbs in total at one time, the rest just regular walking) and never once had my feet hurt. I really like how the way this style of shoe is made keeps my foot from trying to roll to the side. My Hokas have gotten me through a half marathon with 25 lb in my ruck and no blisters afterward, something I can't say the same about when it came to a pair by different company. They're definitely a quality shoe for the money you pay! The only downside is the price; they were about 50 bucks more here than if I had bought them in person. However, my local store also didn't have this color, so...yeah. It is what it is. Overall, I have no regrets about my purchase. Would definitely buy these again! In fact, I've fallen in love with this brand and have since ordered a pair of all black shoes in the same style to walk outdoors in. P.S. For those of you who like to have different colored laces then the shoes like I do, the lime green (which looks more like neon yellow to me, but whatever) ones that come in the Brooks Glycerin Max look pretty good with these! That was a nice bonus since I wanted to swap out those laces with a different color. And honestly, how often are you gonna come across a shoe aside from the original where that color looks good?🤷🏻♀️😂 I've posted two pictures of them so you can see. Of course, they don't match the green on the sole of the shoe EXACTLY, but they're close enough. Just ignore the dirt haha. If some (or any) of this was helpful to you, please indicate as much via that button. I don't normally write reviews, especially long-winded ones, so that will help me out. Thanks in advance! ... show more

  • Superior comfort
Size: 10 Color: Cosmic Grey/Ultramarine
Bought this as a comfortable shoe that I can wear for normal day to day use and a shoe that I can use for running if I ever get back into it. This shoe is so comfortable that it is well worth the money even if I don't ever get back to running. The only gripe I have is the show was obviously not completely new when I bought it. It had a pale yellow spot on the side of one and a light film of dirt on the entire bottom of the sole. These shoes had definitely been around the block a time or two. I get it. The company gets returns, the product is still good so you repackage it and sell it again. I'm fine with that, but at least make it look like it's never been worn. I could make the show look like new, and did so with the yellow spot on the side and I'm not even in the shoe business. I would expect the company to be well equipped to handle these issues. As for the sole I didn't bother making it look like new but I'm not trying to sell it to somebody as a new pair of shoes. Going forward I would strongly consider buying from the company again but next time they better be on their game. Even the best companies sell subpar items sometimes so I'll let it slide this once. ... show more
