Although this necklace looks good and is plated in 18k gold, it is not 925 sterling silver. It is stamped by the clasp as being 925 sterling silver and also says Italy but it is a fake making it not worth nearly the price that is asked for it. I had it tested at a precious metals shops with a XRF tester that measures it's exact composition and it is gold plated copper. It was the size I asked for and weighs 40 grams. It looks well constructed and I like the size and length but I am very disappointed that it is not what they said it was. I would not recommend buying this necklace. ... show more

This gold chain looked extremely fake in person, more like play jewelry than something that resembles real gold. The color and shine feel very costume-style rather than a realistic gold finish. The overall build also doesn’t give a high-quality feel. It looks more like a lightweight fashion piece than something durable or well-made, despite the description and claims of materials. For the price, I expected something that looked a bit more realistic and substantial. Unfortunately, the appearance and finish made it feel more like inexpensive costume jewelry than a quality chain. The necklace is definitely shiny and well made. The clasp is substantial enough to hold up the chain. I chose the 26" length which is actually a little long for me in honesty. The width gives it some weight as well. And while the clasp and connecting pieces are stamped ITALY 925, I have my doubts, given the inexpensive price point. I have not tested it to determine if it's sterling or not. It's not magnetic, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be stainless steel underneath the gold plating. This is a pretty attractive chain, I like the unique chain design and have gotten several compliments while wearing it. I ordered the 26in chain and have a large neck and it is plenty long with room to spare. It is very lightweight and you honestly can barely tell you are wearing it compared to my other stainless steel ones I have. The only complaint I have is I wish it had a different clasp type because it can be hard to take it off and put it on, especially if you have larger hands like mine. ... show more

I might be a bit of an oddball, I actually prefer the look of silver over gold. It's just more versatile, and not as ostentatious. That said, there are times when gold is the right color and look, and though I do own a couple gold necklaces, I'm always hesitant to wear them outside for fear they'll break, get lost, stolen, etc. Which makes this option perfect. The color of the gold plating is, well, it's very much 18 karat gold. At a glance, unless someone were to pick it up and feel the weight, no one would know that it's "just" gold plated silver. (I say "just" because silver has been appreciating in value recently.) And the pattern is very cool, it's not as simple as Cuban link or even Figaro but it's still subtle, simple, and elegant. Overall, I think this chain looks masculine and confident without being ostentatious or cheesy. Not surprising given the manufacturer, I have a couple Himstory silver chains and I absolutely love them.
