This sink drain strainer is a big improvement over the garden variety lift and turn type. It's super easy to remove the drains and empty them. The standard type lets food sneak in the sides, whereas these don't have that problem. Here's the one issue which I think could be improved. The drain handle sticks way above the surface of the sink such that when you put a large heavy pan or plate in the sink, it's going to close the drain. Something you (and definitely I) do not necessarily want. I pretty much never close my drains. They may be able to design a lower standing "mushroom" type head which sits way lower and will only get partially (or not at all) closed when something is laid on top. The thing laid on type may actually close off the sink drain somewhat anyway, due to its seal with the sink bottom but would likely leak enough to slowly allow the sink to drain. Creating a design without any close-off function may be another option as well. I like the product as is and would recommend it. ... show more

This does not seal the water in the sink, therefore a full sink drains within seconds. Plastic stem sits too high causing it to get hit by dishes and since the threads are thin it pops off the metal drain. Water puddles in bottom of sink due to thick metal base

I love how simple they are, they go right in and work right away. The basket to catch stuff is well designed and let's water pass but holds bits of food. On the down side I have no idea why it has a folding handle, it adds a layer of frustration for no reason. Even with the handl folded and the basket depressed the unit stick up above the drain into the sink. So the basket has to be removed to fill a pot of water or to drain pasta onto a colander. The last thing I want to do is touch the sink drain while cooking. Also while doing dishes you can not wash a large pot or crock, as it will let the water out. At the least the basket should be below the sink when depressed. With all that said I have had them in my sink for a few months and I use them daily despite the drawbacks. So I like them more than the frustration of the baskets being above the drain so far. ... show more
