I bought this because the gameplay looked different from the usual action RPGs, and I'm glad I gave it a chance. The game encourages exploration and figuring things out on your own instead of constantly pointing you toward your next objective. The world is visually impressive and has an eerie atmosphere that kept me wanting to explore every new area. Combat feels deliberate and rewarding once you get comfortable with it, and the lack of excessive hand-holding made discovering things feel more satisfying. This won't be for everyone, especially if you prefer games that constantly tell you where to go, but if you enjoy exploring and uncovering mysteries on your own, there's a lot to appreciate here. Definitely a great addition to my physical collection.

I was really intrigued with the description - no map, no list of objectives, lots of creeps to fight. I decided to give it a try, and I've been enjoying the game. The combat is fine, lots of weapons and defensive gear which can be upgraded. The story is very rich, with lots of locales to visit, lots of family history to unravel. I think that might be the best part of the game - the story is compelling, very deep and at times, disturbing. The story might not be for everyone, though. I want to avoid spoilers, but a big part of the story is a conflict between two ethnic groups in an imaginary nation. There is mass-murder and torture of civilians on both sides, which can be difficult. (Your character is not part of the murder or torture, btw.) As far as the flow of the game goes, this to me is one of the weaker parts. These are HUGE levels with lots of winding hallways, ladders and stairways, lots of locked rooms and locked treasure chests and boxes. It is really easy to forget where that locked treasure chest is once you've cleared the level and moved on. It is easy to get turned around and go in circles. There are also tons and tons of clues, slips of paper, relics, tape recordings. I might just not be seeing it, but as far as i can see, the clues all get dumped into a big pile. I've gotten into the habit of writing things down in a notebook because it can be tough to find the clue you stumbled across two levels ago. Pros: Very compelling story. Lots of 'side missions' that you can use to earn rewards and upgrades. This is a very long game with lots of long levels. This is not an eight-hour play. Cons: Some thematic elements can be difficult. The levels can be confusing. I've gone in circles more than a couple times, which can be frustrating. As another reviewer pointed out, the combat can be repetitive. I'm glad I gave this game a try. Game play and navigation can be complicated which I think was supposed to be a strength. For the most part, the complexity is fine, but there are times I'd love to have a map or a way to drop a marker so I could find my way back.

I wasn't really sure what to expect with this game but after playing it for about 15 hours I'm absolutely hooked. The first day I played it I put about 5 or 6 hours on it. I just couldn't stop playing. The combat, the exploration, the thrill of discovering something new and cool is just so addicting. Let it be said that this is NOT a souls-like. When you die enemies don't respawn and you don't lose anything you've collected during your adventure. Plus there is a difficulty setting so you can play it on easy if you'd like.
