This is the second Hawkko telescope we’ve brought into the house, and it continues the trend of being a surprisingly capable starter scope for families. As we had experience with a prior version, this model was even easier for everyone to jump right into using. The kit includes two eyepieces (25mm and 10mm), a 3x Barlow lens, a separate finder scope, and a smartphone adapter for sharing or recording what you’re viewing. There's also stickers for decoration, an activity guide, and a small manual. The tripod offers a decent range of height adjustment, and the whole setup is straightforward enough that my 11‑year‑olds were able to assemble it on their own. The included backpack is genuinely useful, with padded sections and straps that keep all the parts secure and organized and safe from marauding cats who want to steal away the caps and pieces. Because the telescope is lightweight, the focusing can be sensitive to even small movements. Soft ground, enthusiastic kids, or attaching the phone adapter can nudge the scope off target, so getting a crisp image sometimes requires a bit of patience. Still, the optical quality is better than you’d expect at this price, and the overall experience is very beginner‑friendly, just prepare to spend some time dialing in the focus. I had an especially outsized difficulty with the cell phone attachment, which is sort of janky and really requires you to remove any cell phone cases for the best possible quality. I had got a good shot with the previous telescope with the 10mm lense, this time I tried with the 25mm & Barlow. To my eye, it was amazing clear and eye-wateringly bright. I attached the phone, tried to take a few shots of the moon but it was literally too clear and bright and overwhelmed the camera and just looked like a white blur. I tried to twiddle settings while it was attached but this was a fool's errand as it kept shifting. I've attached said white blur, plus the previous picture I took with a lower magnification on a hazy night. These were both good views to the naked eye, but as we all know, good cell phone pictures take some skill. In fact, you will need to become VERY good with your cell phone if you're going to use it in this way with the higher magnification lenses, I'm afraid I was not at that level and the mosquitos drove me inside before too long.

This telescope is an excellent choice for beginners who are interested in learning about astronomy. Everything needed to get started is included which made the setup process simple and enjoyable. The instructions were easy to follow and the phone adapter made it fun to take pictures through the telescope. The views of the moon were surprisingly clear and it was exciting to see details that are not visible with the naked eye.
