I prefer the 1/4 for snake protection with my smaller birds/quail/chickens. Previously I purchased the regular not coated wire. But this black coated 1/4 is exactly what I needed and is much easier to work with. The black makes it easier to see the birds inside. So far I’m extremely pleased with this purchase.

We use this to attach to the bottom of the 450' of various types of fences that surround our back yard to keep the rabbits out of the vegetables and flowers. It fills in the gaps between bars on the wrought iron fence, extends the cedar fence to the ground, and its holes are smaller than the ones on the chain link fence. It easily bends at a 90 degree angle to extend about a foot out from the fence to deter digging under the fence. I love the vinyl coating. It appears it will last a long time. The only drawback for me is that the holes are really small; smaller than they need to be to keep even the smallest critter out. So, it takes about 40 snips with a wirecutter to cut off a section. All in all it's a great product at a really good price.
