This Percussion Hand Shaker is delightfully colorful and the clear plastic appears as crystalline as glass. The tiny plastic beads inside are not very loud upon shaking them and it gives more of a subtle swish effect. As a percussionist with a collection of shakers of all varieties, this one is reserved for a recording situation, not for live performances.

This is a nice shaker! It’s pretty to look at, and has a mellow nice sound. It’s similar to the soft to medium sound of egg shakers, I’d say. I’m a music teacher who has a women’s vocal ensemble of about 8 students, and I struggle to find percussion that won’t drown out their beginner-level voices. This is a good fit. In addition, the tubular shape is nice for gripping gently for a newer musician. Of course, for the cost it is not a top of the line product, but it is certainly decent for our needs. It looks nice on a shelf, too!

There isn't a lot to this shaker, and that's what I expected. It's a simple plastic shaker filled with pink and purple plastic beads. You can make a lot of pleasant sounds with this -- I don't see it getting used every day in our recording studio; rather, it's one of those we'll pick up every once in a while when you're looking for a specific sound. However, it is one of those shakers that you might pick up just to fidget with it -- it's kind of mesmerizing. I find myself picking it up when I'm just sitting relaxing. As other reviewers have mentioned, there's a lot of static in this shaker that has the beads sticking to the sides and tops -- but that's part of what is mesmerizing about playing with this thing.

This is an interesting musical percussion shaker in that it's made of clear plastic and you can see the beads inside (also plastic). Like all shakers, each one has it's own unique tone, this one is a bit brighter sounding to me than most wooden shakers, and louder than the egg shaped plastic shakers. The length of a shaker also makes a difference in how easy it is to use to stay in rhythm for different types of music. Not everyone likes the same size or construction of a shaker, it really comes down to personal preference. For me I have mixed feelings about this one, it's neither the worst or the best shaker I've used, but it's OK, it works for some songs.

Fun percussion shaker that gives a softer sound than maracas. The beads give off some static causing some to stick at the top of the caps.

In music, shakers are percussion/rhythm instruments. In this shaker, the filling (the little balls) have a long ways to travel to get from one end to the other. Considering most traditional techniques for shakers involve creating rhythm from the fill impacting on each end of the shaker in succession, it will be more difficult to shake this with sufficient force to move the filling to where it needs to be in time with the music. But, I got it for my singer to have something to do with her hands. We'll see what she comes up with. One other note is that some of the fill gets stuck around the edge of the plug at one end. This isn't a huge problem, but if you're going for precise shaker sounds and some of these are sticking then becoming loose, they will not be moving with the rest of the filler and may create extraneous sounds.
