  • 🎳 One Heck of a Ball 🎳
Size: 15lbs
I used to have a Storm before this, and it was a wonderful ball… until I accidentally left it in the trunk of my car in the middle of summer like an idiot and it cracked (I live in Phoenix, so yeah). My brother-in-law gave me one of his old Roto Grips as a replacement, but the guy who re-drilled it for me did a terrible job and the ball had no hook potential at all, so I basically had to resort back to throwing a straight ball. This just killed my average, and I was starting to lose hope in my game because I couldn’t find the same Storm ball I used to have (I think it was discontinued). However, I found this ball and decided to give it a try since it had a lot of good reviews. Boy am I glad I did! This was the first Hammer ball I’ve owned, so I was cautiously optimistic about the first time using it after it was drilled. Not only is it super cool-looking, but it’s also a total beast, weighing in at 15 lbs. My first game with it, I bowled a 190 (not my high game, but still pretty solid). My average has gone back up and I’m able to throw the same mean hook I used to with my old Storm. If you’re on the fence about this ball, I would highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Hooks well with mediocre Rev rate.
Size: 16lbs
Has worked for what I needed it to, being a reactive ball with good back-end action for a mid/low rev rate guy. Take some time to get used to it. Get it drilled for your hand too. Bowled only a couple weeks so far. Once I found where I needed to be with it, stayed in the pocket. Early on it's a good ball. Will add review for long term later. Update: as advertised the ball is incredibly strong, I love playing left and still nailing the pocket. Ultimately, you may need a companion ball though. If the lanes transition and you get a ton of dry by boards 5-10 this ball will start going Brooklyn. Could probably be fixed by cranking the speed of the throw, but I don't have that ability yet. ... show more

  • Nice Ball
Size: 15lbs
I have been pretty pleased with this ball, I thought it would hook a little more but maybe I just haven’t fully figured it out yet. So far so good

  • Pin placement
Size: 16lbs
1) Understand that if you are looking for a big backend move, you need to have a pin placement of 3-4" this add fails to say what the pin placement is, the one I received was 1" which is a mild backend (all things equal) I was looking for a lot more. 2) With the pin placement of 1", I will say I get a smooth backend even on heavy oil - I find that I don't have to make a lot of adjustments during 3 game league play, so seems to be fairly consistent for me as oil breaks down (I do you a different ball for spares, although probably don't need to) 3) I have not bowled for 40 years and got back into it 4 months ago, started with an league average of 167 right from the start (I did bolt 1 month prior to joining the league) After bowling 10 practice games with this ball and averaging 195 over the 10 games, I bowled 3 games in league play and rolled a 591 (easily would have had 600 series but missed a 1 pin spare in the 10th) I would say this is an excellent ball, overall and feel I will easily average over 200 ASAP with is It rolls very consistent in heavy, medium or dry lanes and leaves VERY few splits. I purchased the 16 lb ball and roll it 16.5 MPH on average. I have no negative comments about this ball, it is absolutely fantastic! ... show more

  • Awesome ball. Must have!
Got this ball yesterday in the mail. Went to the local shop and had it drilled. Bowled 3 games to test it out. I didn't do too good the first game. Only got 130 with it. 2nd game was better, scored a 170. I adjusted my approach and release. I was use to throwing my Storm Attitude (which cracked on me a few years ago) and how it reacted and was trying the method I used for that ball with the Black Widow Legend. It wasn't working. So I adjusted accordingly. I slowed my speed down from 15.6 to 13.8 and upped my revs. By the 3rd game, I began to get a handle on the ball. Scored a 192!! The 3rd game with this ball and I got a 192!! I know that doesn't seem like an accomplishment but it is for me. I haven't throw a curve ball in years and I have been bowling recently with some friends using house shoes and balls. The highest I ever got lately was 168 with house shoes and balls. Can't wait to bowl again with this ball and tweak my technique. Definitely a must have ball to have in your bag. Might purchase another Hammer ball in the near future once I get all my gear back together. ... show more

  • What I was looking for.
Size: 16lbs
I've bought a couple of balls that I wasn't impressed with but this one has made me happy so far. I haven't bowled enough with it to see if my average is improved but I like the way it hooks. Got to get used to it and then I will hopefully remember to come back and update this review. Update......I have now used this ball for a while and my average game has increased rather well. Of course part of that is getting used to the ball but it is very consistent and has a good back end hook on heavier oil. ... show more

  • Fantastic Ball!
Size: 13lbs
Went from a 161 handicap to getting a 221 a 200 and 207 my first night using my new legend. My advice is make sure the person drilling your ball, drills it to the way you bowl.
