Hands down, this is the best chalk in the world. It truly lives up to its reputation—it is so smooth to write with on a chalkboard, and it doesn't break easily anytime I try to write something important on the board. The colors, both neon and regular, are so vibrant on the board, and really make my letters and topics pop so that they're visible all around. And for me, the best part is that unlike other cheap chalk I've used before, the chalk does not sound scratchy or make shrill sounds as it glides along the surface of the board—it's like writing with butter! ❤️ Not many office or school supplies feel like this, so it gets my seal of approval. Of course, I do love the fact that it's is imperceptive in the dust it leaves behind—honestly, I don't even notice any dust at all as I write, not even on my hands. Even without the wax coating, I don't get s whole lot of chalk color on my hands by the time I finish writing on the board. The chalk itself is the perfect size and thickness for writing—not to skinny that it becomes brittle and breaks, but not to thick that it feels too chunky in the hand for writing. And though proprietary chalk holders do exist for the Hagaromo chalk, I personally don't believe it's necessary, since the chalk leaves so little dust behind. It's also impressive how the chalk erases cleanly—even the colored chalk disappears from the board after erasing it, leaving no trace behind of its existence. My only gripe was the way Amazon handled packaging my chalk. There was barely any bubble wrap or cushioning in the box to keep them from arriving broken in pieces. Some of the sticks of chalk survived shipping, but about 80% of the other chalk pieces where broken when I took them out from their box. I still use the pieces, and they still perform well, but I'm just disappointed about how the chalk arrived in pieces rather than whole. This is definitely not Hagaromo's fault, because they take great care in both crafting and packaging their chalk before it gets shipped out internationally. All in all, the chalk itself is fantastic—I will definitely be buying this again! Hagaromo has turned me into a fan. I may test these to see what other applications the colored chalk can be used for in chalkboard writing, most especially in calligraphy or chalkboard art applications.

I had heard things about Hagoromo chalk and wondered how much better one brand of chalk could be from another. The colors looked amazingly saturated when I opened the box but I was surprised by how "smooth" they felt when writing. I don't know how else to describe it or why it just feels more comfortable and more efficient than any other chalk. Another noticeable difference is how little dust is produced even when erasing. And, most impressive for me, is the inclusion of true primary colors cyan and magenta along with red and indigo. If these last half as long as I've heard then they're well worth the extra cost.

I love this chalk. It is some of the best in the world. They had this layer on the chalk right before writing, and it really makes it better on your hands. And the quality, and even when writing, it does not screech as much, and the color is full. Really good quality, would recommend 10 times over. 100/10

The chalk is a bit spendy but it also the best chalk I have ever used. I found it on Amazon after seeing an article about it's manufacture. It's absoulutely worth the extra cost. It's smooth and creates far less chalk dust, its fantastic.

My toddler really loves these! But the only thing I wasn’t happy happy about is that it’s super easy to break and it came with some already broken… overall it’s easy to erase and write retry well!

Yes, the price of the chalk is significantly higher than the mass produced stuff found in classrooms from days gone by, but you will immediately notice why. It does not take an aficionado to tell the difference in ease of writing, vibrant color, chalk transfer, and minimal dust. If you hate that chalkboard grind noise/feel that makes your hair stand on end, this chalk reduces that feeling too. I fully plan to purchase a much larger pack once I exhaust this set. I understand the hype and why this manufacturing method/formula was saved and is cherished by those that write with chalk.

What can I say? It's a well-known brand, the colors are vibrant, with one end designated for marking, the rest coated so that it doesn't get dust over one's fingers. I also really found the font used to print "Hagoromo" on the side of the chalk to be cute and interesting - I don't know what the font is, but it's round and has serif edges. I love this packaging color and how it displays the chalk. Inside, the chalks are nestled inside a white styrofoam tray -- I think if the company really wanted to up the ante on their product/luxuriousness, they could use a material other than styrofoam -- or use a foam with a finer grain. Excellent value for price!
