Yes it does slide down. It didn't matter how tight. Unless you're planning on not sitting and you keep it super tight while standing. Idk I struggled to even get photos without it sliding. I bought this scarf as a handle wrap for my purse so I bought 2 of the SAME color but was sent 2 different colors. It's a nice material, but kind of thick how slim the scarf, if you have very long purse handles for a large tote bag or something, it would be fine. If you had a small or even medium bag like the Kate Spade Medium Satchel, it might be too long and the wrap would end up making the handles really thick.
