  • Great toy for boys or girls!!! Well made, highly enjoyable, great educational value!!
This is an AMAZING toy!!! My 3 yr old couldn't stop playing with her own screwdriver!! She sat and played with the screws for THREE HOURS straight, I have never seen her play with any single toy for that long-EVER! She was also learning, not only fine motor, but also patterning and matching(which really she already knows, but practice never hurts). We have asked her to put all the screws in the matching colors, to put the green screws in the yellow holes, etc etc. As background, my 3yr old is very girly! She plays dress up(and dresses the dog ;-)), picks her own clothing, has loved tulle and lace since she was old enough to see it...but she also loves to play with tools. Tools aren't just for boys or tomboys, I love that too, that I can teach my daughter that she can be anything she wants, that she can play dress up, dolls, and with her screws all in the same day!! The construction is great, solid wood, yet smooth(no chance of splinters here), the paint is done well, the colors of the screws and holes match perfectly(which should always be the case, but isn't always so). I love that the screwdriver has a secure place in the block so the entire set stays together(less chance of loosing pieces)-basically there is a rubber ring inside the screwdriver hole(its a bit difficult to get it in and out the first few times, but not impossible-even for my 3yr old). My now 11yr old son had an entire tool bench with screws and screwdriver, yet I like this better, it is portable, has a small footprint(it can fit in the diaperbag, my purse, toybox, etc), my son's was also plastic and this wood set is far more stable, no wobbling/bending screws or bench. I bought this for my 3yr old daughter after purchasing children's furniture that she "helped" assemble. She couldn't get enough of the screwdriver, so when I saw this, I couldn't resist. I truly thought this would be an occasional use toy or that she would loose interest fairly quickly, however, I have 2 more daughter's coming up(my young ones are 3, 2, 1) and at this price point, that would be ok. That was definitely not the case. I am beyond happy that this toy was available for my daughter!! ... show more

  • Great toy
My son has had this toy for 2 years and still uses it continuously. Great toy to help with fine motor skills, color coordination and more!

  • unbalanced to hold for very young toddler
My child is younger than the age suggestion, but thought I'd mention that this toy is a bit tricky and unbalanced for my 16 month to hold with one hand while manipulating the screw with the other. He does much better with a two piece, (single nut and single bolt) type toy such as the Twist and Turnables from Hape. ... show more

  • Nice fine motor skills toy
Nice little toy, good quality and build. The only issue is the screwdriver can be a little hard to remove, but I expect that with use it will get easier. The screwdriver slides easily out of position as well while screwing the screws into place, but I feel this is part of the learning experience. My son got this as a new two year old. He is working hard on figuring out righty tighty, lefty loosey and maintaining the direction he chooses until the job is done. Lots of brain work happening here! He enjoys matching the colored screws to their proper spot and also thinks it's pretty funny to mismatch the screws and then fix them. This is one of those simple toys that has a lot of learning potential. And it stores nicely too. ... show more

  • I remember the Fisher Price Take Apart car was one of my son's favorite toddler toys
Ordered for a 5 year old child with Down Syndrome after reading an on-line review about the product. What you see is what you get: a well constructed wooden toy with screws to turn by hand or with the screw driver. I was hoping my granddaughter would use this toy practice small motor control but turning the screws even by hand was difficult for her so she lost interest quickly. However, she picked up the screw driver and, using it as a microphone, began to sing. Perhaps this toy would be more interesting if the screws were actually screwing something together. I remember the Fisher Price Take Apart car was one of my son's favorite toddler toys. ... show more

  • Great Montessori Toddler Toy
My 2 year old loves playing with this and enjoys trying to turn the screws. She loves using the screwdriver (it came attached to the block already and pulls out with ease) it's fun and gets her brain working. Sturdy and Montessori approved!

  • 18 month old learnt how to unscrew using this. Really wonderful to watch.
My 18 month old learnt how to unscrew using this device and it was such a wonderful skill to watch him develop. It isn't a toy he plays with for hours but each day he disassembles it and I re-assemble it perhaps 3 or 4 times. The screwdriver that it comes with is beyond him and I find it a little clumsy myself. My son uses his fingers and I don't blame him. I would too. He can't screw things in yet and, as I just mentioned, he doesn't use the screw driver. So there is still room to grow with this toy. Still, it has it's limits as it is basically just a tool to teach dexterity in one manual task. My husband and I value this type of dexterity so we love the block. Perhaps some families might not think it worth the money though. ****UPDATE**** My son is now 20 months and still loves this. It gets unscrewed a min of 5 times a day. Limited only by how fast us adults re-screw the pins in again. ... show more
