I bought this for my 21 month old (50% height and weight) in size 3T and it was perfect! A bit big but I didn't have to fight him to get it on and off and I learned my lesson with I play swim wear (which I love!) not to get his actual size bc they are fit to be so tight... I love this rash guard shirt the best of all the ones we have. The top fit true to size. It fits my son so nicely, easy to get on and off. I purchased this in 18 mos. Over the summer when we were swimming nearly daily my son was around 20-22lbs and was wearing 18 mos clothing. When getting my son ready to go outside/swimming I always slather him with sunblock head to toe then reapply to exposed areas throughout the day. I bought this rash guard in a 3T and when I opened the package I thought it looked really small and I thought it would not fit but when I put it on our child it fits perfectly!! It is not tight at all. The sleeves fit just right and it went over his head easily. It is really cute and I love it!! I bought a navy rash guard and a lime green. Both colors are really pretty. Great buy. Bought it for my 1 year old because I wanted to protect her from the summer heat. I also wanted a rash guard that had a zipper so that it wouldn't be a hassle pulling it over her head. The material for this shirt is good quality lycra or swimsuit material. I think it will hold up well, but I haven't tested it's UV protection abilities yet. I have two girls who wear 18 month clothes and 3t or 4t so I purchased this shirt in 3 sizes (24 month, 3t, and 4t). My 2.5 year old wears 3t in normal clothes and this shirt it super loose and baggy. This might be the difference between how girls' clothes and boys' clothes fit (since this is unisex), but I expected that a rash guard would be snug like cotton pajamas fit, so I got the bigger size too. Other than the sleeves being a little short, she actually fits in the 24 month size. For a day at the beach, it's safe to get your normal size, but if you want to use it in the pool, you might want to size down (said no mom ever). But seriously, it would be hard to swim in. If you want to compare. I laid a 4t Carter's long sleeve pajama top on top of the 3t rash guard. The length of the sleeves and the body are the same, but the body of the rash guard is about 3/4" wider on either side and the sleeves are about an inch wider. ... show more
