  • Use Instructions Posted on Amazon, NOT those that come in the box
I'm using this dual-monitor KVM switch while (pandemic) working from home. Prior to purchasing, I would unplug everything from my work laptop and plug into my home desktop to use the same dual-USB RGB mechanical keyboard, wireless mouse and two monitors, and then do the reverse to go back to my work laptop. This KVM switch allows me to switch seamlessly between the two with a push of the button. VERY IMPORTANT - the box included just 4 HDMI->HDMI cables and two USB->USB-b cables. To connect two computers and two monitors I had to use a total of 6 HDMI->HDMI cables AND the two USB->USB-b cables (three cables per computer). Without the 2nd HDMI->HDMI cable, you will only be able to see an image on one monitor. The 3rd cable you need per computer would depend on it's ports; it might be HDMI, VGA, etc. With a RGB (lit with customizable colors) mechanical keyboard, they have two USB connections that need a home. For keyboard and mouse (K/M) connections, the KVM switch only has one USB port for a keyboard, and one for a mouse. I plugged in both keyboard USBs to the KVM's K/M ports and plugged in the USB for my wireless mouse into another USB 2.0 port. As other reviewers have mentioned, doing this makes the hot-keys inoperable for switching between computers, but the button on the KVM is within reach so it's not a problem for my setup. STRONGLY recommend using the instructions provided in the post on Amazon (in photos of the item) over the very weak instructions included in the box. The KVM switch just arrived tonight and I installed it within 30 minutes (would have been less if I read other reviews that mention the additional cables needed). While testing it out I did have one instance where my 2nd monitor went bright green, but removing the 3 connections from the KVM for that monitor and plugging them back in, the 2nd monitor went back to normal. Other than that hiccup the KVM has worked great so far, but since I only installed it 90 minutes before submitting this review, I will change my review if performance quality does not last. Overall I am pleased that the KVM switch does exactly what I purchased it for, as long as there are no further issues with performance quality. ... show more

  • Easy to set up and use, a little glitchy.
Set up took about 5 minutes. I had to restart my PC’s several times to get all the monitors to display and figure out the order for powering everything on. Power the PC on, then the KVM switch. Occasionally need to turn the KVM switch off and on a couple times to get all monitors to register. Works with my OLD PC tower, all in one and 2 monitors. When using the all in one, I have 3 expanded displays. When using my tower, I have 2 expanded displays. It came with all the cables I needed. My monitors had their own HDMI cords which were also used. Overall, happy with purchase. ... show more

  • ONLY KVM I found to support my setup with mechanical keyboard
I was trying to get the following working together with fast switching: 1. Drop CTRL Keyboard (with backlight) 2. Manjaro (Arch linux based) desktop 3. Work provisioned macbook pro. I tried no fewer than 4 other KVMS. The DDM-style ones (from Startech/Conectpro) do not work, the semi-DMM-style do not work (TesMart) do not work (despite saying that they work better with Mechanical keyboards. This is the ONLY one that worked. That said, the unit has flaws. THEY DON'T GIVE YOU ANY STAND ALONE POWER SUPPLY??? The unit will draw power from the usb hookups to your computer by default, There is a 5V micro usb port for supplying additional power, however I couldn't get it to run the backlight of my keyboard. Same with the USB 2.0 ports. I tried many different cables and wall plugs seeing if I could draw enough power to run the backlight and it doesn't work. This isn't true of the other KVMs--they usually can light the backlight of the keyboard. I was lucky that the Drop CTRL is such a great keybaord and has a second usb-c connection that will actually allow me to connect for additional power. But I am able to use the K/M port to swap machines with very little latency. If you do hook these up to the 2.0 port, it will have noticeable latency. If they had a dedicated power and could resolve the hotkey for my keyboard it would be the best unit out there for gamers/productivity fiends. ... show more

  • Good Dual Monitor KVM, minor changes desired
KVM supports all the applications and games I run through it to two 27" 1080P monitors. Tried other versions and they choked when I tried to run games through them. Three wishes/desires. 1. Put Keyboard and Mouse ports in rear (leave USB 2.0 in front). 2. Support powered/backlit keyboards in keyboard port. I have to use the USB 2.0 port for my keyboard which doesn't allow me to use the keyboard shortcuts. It's not a gaming keyboard but it is backlit. Only the USB 2.0 ports provide the power needed to use the keyboard. Not sure why we can't get 500 mA (USB 2.0 spec) from this port since it does power my optical mouse just fine. 3. Provide USB charger to support independent power to the unit. I'm sure the expectation is that I power the KVM from one of the computers, but if I turn the computers off that has the KVM plugged in, the results are no screens and no keyboard and mouse for the other that stays on. *** UPDATE 29 JUNE 2020 *** #2 above was the result of a faulty unit. Received a replacement and keyboard and mouse work perfectly as well as the hotkeys. Also, the unit works without a usb adapter since computers still provide power to the usb ports even when they are off, as long as they are still plugged in. So #3 isn't an issue anymore either. Still would like #1. ... show more

  • Works Perfectly
I've been using this switch for a month and it has performed flawlessly without any issues. I use it for audio production, video editing, and gaming. There is no lag. I also have a high-end RGB keyboard that uses only one USB connection and performs just as if it was plugged directly into the computer. My wireless programmable trackball also performs just as it does without the switch. ... show more
