  • Great grass pad for pups and inclement weather days.
This is the first grass pad that I had and the Ondware Grass Pad seems to fit our needs. I wasn't aware that these were a thing, since it's been ages since we've had a dog. There is a new Chug puppy in the family now. And little toy breeds, especially the short hair variety, are definitely susceptible to the cold weather or the rain/snow. So our little guy, who is 9 weeks old, didn't want to go outside or go very far when doing his business. My son told me about these grass pads and I decided to get one. The Grass Pad is a great size especially for smaller breeds of dogs. The new pup sniffed around at first and then later decided it was a great spot to use for his bathroom. He took to it almost instantly. I think he likes it because he can be done quickly since it's convenient and he can go back indoors where it is warm. He seemed to know what to do without any real instruction from us. I think it's great for potty training and your dog will figure it out instintively. I really like that it's washable and your can just hose it down with a garden hose. Based on limited experience with grass pads, it seems good quality. The grass seems to be made of the kind of material that most Christmas tree greenery is made of and feels a lot like real grass. So it's not plastic. But you will get some fall out, just like you do when you up putting up your tree at the holidays. But I think that is probably true of any grass pad, given how and what they are made of. It does have a plastic odor since the under side is made of some kind platic material, but it goes away fairly quick. And if you are using it outside, like our pup, it's really not an issue. So far so good. I would recommend this grass pad. It makes things a lot easier on you and your furry pal. ... show more

  • Not for your dog! Not a good buy!
Size is small and poor quality. It’s not for puppies because the strands can be pulled out and digested. Not a good value.

  • Economical potty solution for snowy or rainy days
I have a dachshund, who is obviously low to the ground, and refuses to do any business in the snow, even if I shovel a space for him. He doesn't much like rainy days either. I ordered this faux grass pad to make going out with my pup less of a struggle on bad weather days. It comes folded flat and creased, so I left it outside on the patio to breathe for a day. Then I took a dog brush and gently raised the plastic grass blades to make them fluffy. It's surprisingly soft underfoot and paw, and is the perfect size for a small dog. Mine liked sitting on it right away, but he wouldn't "go" on it. I had the brilliant idea to "prime" it. I captured a bit of urine, as you would for a vet visit, and dribbled it onto the grass pad. The very next time he investigated it, bingo, we had a squat. Note that it has drainage holes in the backing. Liquids pass through it rather than being absorbed. This does make it easier to clean, and it dries quickly. Both the faux grass and the mat are made of durable materials; however, the backing is raw-cut, i.e., not bound on the long sides. It's already unraveling and shedding a bit, so care should be taken when cleaning it. This pad is an economical choice because it's reusable. It would also make a nice crate liner for any pet. My dog is just happy to have a dry potty place on bad weather days. Yours will be too. ... show more

  • My Pup’s New Personal Lawn (And My Latest Laundry Project)
Okay, let's set the scene. My backyard is basically a mud wrestling pit, and my small dog looks at rain like it’s acid. The idea of a personal, portable grass pad seemed almost too good to be true. Would it be a flimsy, leaky mess? A glorified shower mat? I was skeptical, but also desperate for a solution that didn't involve a tiny umbrella. This thing is sturdier than I expected. It's not just a floppy mat; it has real heft to it. The "grass" blades are a surprisingly realistic plastic turf, about an inch and a half tall, mounted on a thick, rubbery base. The whole unit measures a perfect 33 by 20 inches—plenty of room for my guy to do a full-circle sniff-and-spin routine before committing. The base has a subtle lip around the edge, which is a genius little feature I didn't appreciate until the first wash. It really does help contain the... uh... liquid assets. The setup was a comedy act. I unrolled it, and my dog immediately treated it like a new bed, plopping down for a nap. After some gentle encouragement (and strategically moving his favorite toy onto it), he finally understood the assignment. Success! Cleanup is straightforward: you just take the top grass layer off, hose it down or toss it in the washing machine (on cold, gentle cycle, hang to dry—trust me), and wipe the rubber base. No more soggy paper pads sliding across the floor. My main hope now is that this little patch of artificial green holds up to daily business. It feels well-made, so I’m optimistic it’ll be a lasting part of our bad-weather routine. Here’s the quick rundown from our first few weeks: The Good Stuff: · The size is perfect for small to medium dogs. · It looks and feels much more substantial than a disposable pad. · The washable design is a total win—good for the budget and the planet. · The raised lip is a small detail that makes a big difference. The Not-So-Good Stuff: · It has a strong "new plastic" smell when it first arrives. I let mine air out on the patio for a day. · While the washing is easy, it’s still an extra chore. You’re trading trash duty for laundry duty. · My dog occasionally tries to dig at the turf blades. They’ve held up so far, but I keep an eye on it. All in all, this grass pad has been a minor miracle for our rainy days. It’s not magic—you still have to train your pup to use it—but it’s a solid, reusable solution that spares my carpets and my sanity. ... show more
