This dress is very flattering. I would say it is true to size and the material thickness is perfect. It does have some stretch, so if you are between sizes, you may be able to size down even. I am an 8/10 and went with a medium and I could have probably even went with a small, here was plenty of room in the dress. It was the first dress I put on that I felt beautiful in (even though I was not put together). It has a great flow to the dress and the purple is beautiful! I purchased the purple and am going to purchase a different color too. I don't know if my daughter wants everyone in purple for her wedding party and I don't want her to feel any pressure. I want her to cherish those memories. Having the extra dress will be a bonus, it helps that I love it so much! I am 5'10" and this dress hits me just below my knee, it is the perfect length and has pockets! I am including a picture (please don't mind the messy hair and face-it really was a really long day). I wanted to make sure you all saw this dress on a real person. I am not 'young' by any means, but I believe this dress is for everyone. It is really flattering. I decided to tie the dress in the back, I really didn't like the way it looked with it tied in the front on me. I liked how you have an option. So you get to choose. I may try it again, who knows, I may surprise myself and tie it up front-probably not going to happen. I will probably still tie it in the back. I’m not a fancy person. My daughter is getting married and I wanted a practical dress that looks nice and that I can wear on other occasions. My daughter approved of this dress for her wedding at a beautiful vineyard in Napa knowing how I feel about spending a lot of money for a Mother of the Bride dress that I can only wear once. I like that I can tie it in the front or make it look dressier by tying it in the back in a bow. A pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings and I am as dressed up as anyone else at the event but a whole lot more comfortable. The pockets are a bit plus because I am always in need of a tissue even when I’m not watching my daughter get married. The dress is very well made. No errors in construction. The fabric is thick enough that it falls nicely and I won’t need to wear a slip when wearing it. I understand why there is a zipper (so you won’t get makeup on the dress putting it on) but I can easily just pull it over my head without any problem (I also don’t wear makeup) I also own the cocktail dress by this company in a M. Unfortunately I have lost a bit of weight so it is now a tad big on me. I bought this in a S and it fits like it was made for me. I am almost 70y/o, 5’4” and it goes to mid calf. Beautiful dress. Fit is perfect. I’m 5’6.5”, 225 with an apron belly. Ordered 2x. The flow is great and it looks very elegant. It has pockets! The teal color is more dusky blue, however. But still a nice shade/color. I have shareware underneath that somewhat holds my belly in but with the flared skirt, it might work without it. It’s a heavy material for sure. Maybe better for fall or indoor A/C events. But I love it! Don’t mind the gross mirror in my now moved out daughter’s room that requires an enema! 😅 ... show more

I really like this dress - so much so that I also purchased it in a second color. As someone fighting an increased waistline thanks to pregnancy, age, lack of exercise, and a fondness for sweets, the belt at the waist actually gave me one. The material is a sturdy material and not a clingy, thin knit. The only thing I would change is a way to keep the belt tightened without having to do a knot - perhaps snaps or a clip so it isn't a bulky square knot, etc. I may just put it on, pin it, and then secure with a couple of stitches.
