  • Great value, great machine, great option for fighting the "COVID-15"
I've used the "name brand celebrity endorsed" version of this machine at a health club (albeit a commercial model) and knew it would actually be something I would use at home (you can probably figure out which brand and which model by comparing pictures online and looking for the martial arts guy endorsing it). I cancelled my gym membership back in July and haven't considered joining again because COVID is still raging in our area. It's been months since I was able to work out and I noticed my clothes were starting to feel tighter. I decided that I would just get us something for our house. I had initially intended to spend the money on that more well-known brand (you can probably figure out which brand and which model by comparing pictures online and looking for the martial arts guy endorsing it) – my budget was more than 3 times what I spent on the GR8FLEX! Here are the pros & cons I've seen: PROS: GR8FLEX is about 1/3 the cost of the "name-brand-celebrity-endorsed" option. For this price, the GR8FLEX comes with more attachments standard, as well as additional weight in the form of 4 resistance bands attached under the slide which give you anywhere from 10 to 50 lbs to add. The competitor's option does not even offer additional weight bands. The machine itself seems well made. It's sturdy (doesn't wobble when used) and is heavy enough to keep it from jumping around (a problem with cheaper/lighter home gyms). The slide rolls smoothly and is not as noisy as I was expecting it to be. GR8FLEX has 15 resistance levels, where the name brand option topped out at 12. This was super easy to set up initially - have a helper - it's mostly pre-assembled but is a bit large for one person to remove from the packaging etc. After setup, and once you figure out how to do it, you can raise the incline and do everything else without any help. Super easy to transition between exercises. The added bands mean that I can get a workout for upper and lower body without changing the incline for many of the exercises. The machine was well-packaged and only slight flattening of the box corners was apparent upon arrival - no obvious transport-related damage to the machine. This comes with a full lifetime warranty, and registration was easy and straightforward on their website - I registered a couple of days after making my purchase. CONS: While it was obvious due to all the plastic wrapping that what I received was new, there were several spots of surface rust, a scratch/scrape, and a noticeable ding in the white paint. I’ve included 4 pictures of some of the rust/damage. However, as these issues are purely cosmetic and point to quality control measures during assembly and packaging which the company could (I would think) easily rectify for future customers. I have only found one thing that I think could be improved upon - the area where the weight bands connect under the slide are C shaped catches - this means the end that you connect/disconnect can drop out of its holder easily. While this is not a deal breaker it would be nice if these were more secure (this is the last image in my review). The unit does take up a lot of real estate in the room - but if you're looking for a home gym, my guess is you already have room for it. My son's phone dropped out of the cellphone holder - so I'm not sure how well designed that part is, but this is yet another con which really doesn't play into the quality of the machine overall. Some of the photo illustrations in the booklet were difficult to see to know we were doing the exercises properly - however, GR8FLEX also has a video channel dedicated to showing the exercises for the machine as well, which is super helpful. I reached out to the company regarding the surface rust and damage to the paint. They replied within about 20 mins with an offer for touch up paint to be sent to me. Nice gesture! I was able to remove nearly all the surface rust with a liquid rust stain remover product (that's made in the USA no less!). The 5th picture included shows how it looks after using that product to remove the most obvious rust spot. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase, and so is my 16 yr old son. We set it up and had familiarized ourselves with all but a handful of the exercises in the book within less than a 2-hour period. The other exercises require a curl bar which was the only attachment not included. We give this a 5-star rating because the cons are not significant enough to warrant anything less. If you are looking for a home gym and are worried about paying this much (yes, there are cheaper options out there), I would say this one is a good, solid middle of the road option - it's nowhere near as pricey as the name brand celebrity endorsed product, comes with more standard attachments (including the weight bands!), seems sturdy and well built, has a smooth slide mechanism and is easy to use. I'm really glad we spent $600 (vs less). We could have purchased the competitor; it was in our budget. I'm really glad we didn't. ... show more

  • Completely honest review here.
If you’re considering a total gym, if you want a unaffiliated brutally honest review, if you’re like me and research a product and read every review possible, this is for you. I am in no way affiliated with this company. I research something I’m interested in until there is literally nothing more to know. I’m just a person who was dying for a solid workout again. I, like many others haven’t been able to go to the gym for the past 2 and half months due to the lock down. We have a good home gym to start ( treadmill, Olympic bar, weight plates, kettle bells, dumbbells, etc.) but I needed something to really help with a total body workout to complete our gym. So I started looking for that final piece. I’m not a fan of bow flex so I didnt even go there. I had my eyes set on a total gym fit, but the $1600 price tag at this time was just not logical for me. My search continued. I did see the Gr8flex on amazon a few times but didnt even give it a chance and immediately scrolled past it because I am probably one of the few people who HATE the color gold. It just looked tacky to me. However, I came back, took a look at it and read every single review for every model, researched it on the net and YouTube, and compared the gr8flex to the fit. They are almost identical but with gr8flex being superior. It has more resistance levels, which is huge for me because if I’m going to spend the money on something like this, I dont want to outgrow it and have to replace it in a year or two. I want the best. It also comes with almost every attachment I wanted....(gr8flex, please make a Pilates toe bar!!!) it comes with a lifetime warranty on every part, and it cost $1,000 less than the fit. I decided to go for it and order the Pearl and gold model and anxiously waited for it to be delivered. My husband was at work when it was delivered. I was too excited to try it out and have a good workout again, so I set it up myself. It doesn’t come with instructions, but like many other reviews stated, the instructions are on their website as well as a video on YouTube. It was really easy to set up alone. This thing is SOLID. Its heavy, but thats a good thing, for me as it can hold more weight and I have a higher level of security on it. It is a lot bigger when folded out than I thought, but another plus because I dont feel constricted and have a huge range of motion (I’m 5’8”). It folds up easily as well. We have a decent sized condo with a huge balcony and use this gym outside, fold it up, and bring it inside to store in a corner so it doesn’t rust in the Florida weather. Its really easy to move around even with how heavy it is. Ive had only 4 days now and I’m in love. The options of moves and workouts are almost unlimited. I wish this had a weight bar like the total gym, BUT, it does have 50 pounds of resistance bands and if you get creative you can add even more weight. I use my pull up bands, leg bands, kettle bells, weight plates, and dumbbells for added weight and resistance for my leg workouts. Ive been an avid gym goer for the past 7 years and this gym is shockingly amazing. I honestly didnt think I would get a GREAT workout with it like I do at the gym, but I was completely wrong. Ive worked muscles that I haven’t worked in a long time, and muscles that ive somehow never worked before. I love the fact you use your core in almost every move. I thought I’d have to start at a high level with my experience, but nope, I was put into my place quickly with this machine and had to start on lower to mid levels for upper body! I can go to 15 with legs but that’s my strong point and I want to focus on upper body. This delivers. I absolutely love it! Back to the color....if you happen to be like me and DESPISE the color gold, dont let this factor into your decision because its actually really beautiful in person. I LOVE white, I wish they would make an all white color one day, a more neutral color, or even give an option on selecting a frame and board color. However, it looks amazing and even with my hatred of gold, I love it! The attachments are great and are super easy to install and take off. The ez curl bar, and pull up attachments are my absolute favorite. I’m still trying to learn and research moves for the leg attachment, but I am able to do a few Pilates moves that really work the core. The ab attachment is awesome as well. My abs haven’t been this sore in years after using it once. To sum it up, all of the attachments are solid, and will provide countless moves if you get creative enough. My husband was skeptical when I told him I ordered this, but after working out on it himself, he changed his mind and is really blown away on the quality of it, and the workout you are able to get from it. He is 6’2” and 225 and has no issue whatsoever with this machine. He has plenty of room working out on it. I read reviews with people having problems and reaching out to customer service with no response or resolution, I just dont believe those reviews. I did have a few issues with it (manufacturing problems) but an email to the seller was quickly answered and resolved all my problems. Customer service is huge for me, so they got major bonus points as a whole on how well and fast my problems were resolved. I immediately started sending pictures of the gym to friends and family recommending it if they are looking for a home gym. This is it. I personally, would much rather support a small business and help them grow, rather than to fill the pockets of a huge company who doesn’t really care about customer service ( a quick chat session with TG told me everything I need to know about them). I have a little background in manufacturing so I do understand that MOST products everyone purchases on a daily basis all come from the same manufacturer's in China (I have no idea if this gym does and am not implying that), but you pay different amounts, for a name and label. TG charges $1,000 more for a machine that is similar but less than the gr8flex, all for a name and celebrity endorsement. Like I said, when you compare this gr8flex gym to the fit, the gr8flex is superior in every way. This piece of equipment is SOLID and well built. Its not cheap in build or aesthetics. I already have recommended this to people, and will continue to do so. I dont see the need of having to replace it anytime soon, but if I had to purchase a new one, I definitely would. My husband and I love it so much, we just canceled our gym membership. I do love the actual gym, but we now have everything we need for a complete and solid workout at home. What’s better than having a gym quality workout inside/outside your home, not having to drive or worry about what to wear? Getting fresh air and hearing the ocean doesn’t hurt either. So, if you’re considering this machine, the TG, or something similar, dont even think about it, buy this!! I promise you will not regret it! ... show more

  • Excellent Machine with Excellent Customer Service!
I am 54 years old and have been resistance training for a very long time; Due to space and money limitations, I decided to go with this type of equipment for continuing my training. I was ALMOST going to simply buy a T.G. version of this type of machine, since I used to own one back in the 1990s and thought it was decent. But then I decided to start comparing the GR8FLEX with a comparable T.G. system and it just made more sense to go with the GR8FLEX, as it was much sturdier and a better overall value...the LIFETIME warranty was the final decision factor for me. Now I have owned and been using my system (please see picture) for just about 2 months and I am thrilled with it! Not only does it function extremely well and provides many different types of effective exercises, but the customer service has been outstanding. I have emailed the company with all sorts of questions and requests and they always got back to me in 1-2 days. For example, I also bought the extra resistance cables (20lb and 25lb type to enable even more resistance combinations); my latest email was a request for a set of cable fasteners to match the ones that came with my original unit. The company got back to me within one day, stating they went ahead and shipped me these clip-style fasteners to replace my carabiner style cable fasteners (at no additional charge to me!) - I am very impressed! I find myself being simply thankful I decided to go with this product/company! ... show more
