The Amazon warehouse "picker" mistakenly put the wrong item in our order - we ordered the item on this page - - GREEN with a clamp to hold it securely to the cabinet top (or a board attached to a 5-gallon bucket in our case, so we can peel lots of apples at the time). What came was BRIGHT RED, and with the SUCTION CUP for attaching to the counter - suction cup won't attach to a board!. Too much trouble to return for exchange, so we'll keep this one. We've owned several of these products before so we did not need the instructions supplied. The instructions are WAY MORE complex than needed. They number the various parts in a diagram and then refer to these parts by number in the instructions. You'll get lost in the "turn 1 through 8 until completed at 9" instructions. (Just pull back the shaft, stick the apple on it and turn the handle. If you want it peeled AND sliced leave the spiral cutting knife in place; otherwise turn the butterfly nut and lower the cutting knife!) NOTE that I gave it high recommendations. This product was first designed over 200 years ago. As long as they can keep the materials it is made from of decent quality, it will be fine! (our only issues were with the wrong product being sent and the instructions being too complicated) :-) ... show more

Positives: As a cutter and core it's ok. Negatives: 1) Cutting blade came with a bad curl and needed some grinding to get sharp to avoid rough cutting. 2) The plastic bushing near the handle pops out frequently and likely needs to be glued or you will have to reset the bushing after each apple. 3) The screws and washers rusted after first use. 4) The clamp seems cheap and the rubber bumpers fall off easily. ... show more

My peeler doesn't have a suction mechanism- it clamps onto my table/counter. It didn't come with directions in English, so I watched YouTube video. Was up and peeling in a few minutes. Took very little time to prepare enough apples for two pies. Should have purchased one years ago. It cored, peeled and sliced with very little effort or mess. Wonderful!! Did potatoes for augraten the same evening with wonderful results as well. Just dropped down the core mechanism to do the potatoes. ... show more

Where has this been my whole potato peeling life?!? I started it in apples first just to see how it worked. My 20 year old son thinks it’s the greatest apple invention ever. I’m not a huge apple person but we are big meat and potato people and I hate peeling potatoes. I saw the reviews where people were dissing the potato peeling ability of this lovely apple peeler.     • How to adjust the machine if it is not peeling correctly.

The only reason I did not give a 5 to easy to use is that there are no directions with the machine. There are two adjustments which are fairly easy to figure out but directions would have helped. The problem was the peeler was missing sections of the apple. Finally realized there were two adjustments and once those were set it worked fine. If you use a softer apple it will not work properly as the core rips. But, I checked with an orchard near us and they said that was a common problem. ... show more

I can now cut, peel and core an apple in literally seconds! I've had this for several months and have used it constantly. The blade dulls after a couple dozen apples, but my husband was able to sharpen it with a fine file in only a minute. I would recommend this to anyone that has a use for it- even it is is only once a month. I use it for pies and dehydrating mostly on apples, but you can take off the core part and still peel a giant stack of potatoes in minutes.
