  • Nest is the best!
Love my Nest thermostats. I now control them by speaking to Alexa, and they have helped me reduce my energy usage by over 20%.

  • Place and forget about
It is almost scary how it is learning and automatically adjusting to keep the house warm now that it is getting cooler.

  • DOES NOT WORK IF YOUR INTERNET GOES DOWN (or if it decides to disconnect itself)!
EDIT TO ADD NEW MAJOR PROBLEM: Our Internet supposedly went down, or Nest disconnected itself--my computer could get on the Internet just fine, so what would you think? At any rate, the Nest insisted it was disconnected and quit working--right as we experienced a cold snap. I did a Google search (oh, yeah, the Internet was working!) for troubleshooting the issue. Despite being assured by the troubleshooting guide that I could change from cooling to heating directly on the thermostat, IT WOULD NOT LET ME DO THAT. It has taken us THREE DAYS to get Nest reconnected with the Internet so I could change the schedule; meanwhile I was freezing in my own house because it would not turn on any heat. I will never buy a thermostat that requires connecting to the Internet to function again. I can hardly wait until this thermostat dies so I can get a new one. There is a learning curve to using this, unless you are already familiar with this type of thermostat. First problem: my husband, a physicist who does a LOT of electrical work, was unable to install this thermostat, so we had to pay to have it installed by a Nest technician. They set it up to interact with my husband's phone, but he is not home during the day, so it should have been set up to interact with MY phone as the person who is home 24/7. It took multiple efforts and phone conversations with Nest technical support to get the thermostat to interact with my phone. Second problem: At first, I kept setting and resetting the temperatures for 65 to 73, and the Nest kept resetting the temps for 70 to 75/76. I do not want the house heated to 70 degrees at night! I have trouble enough sleeping due to back pain from scoliosis; I can sleep only about two hours before I have to get up and walk to relieve pain. I need it to be cool to sleep even 5 hours a night total, but the Nest wanted to maintain a minimum temperature of 70, so I was sweating and waking feeling nauseous from being too hot. The Nest is very insistent on using "Eco" temps, which means it doesn't want to start cooling until the temperature reading is 75 degrees. We have a lot of windows, and the hallway in which the Nest is situated heats up to 73-74 very quickly. As with overheating at night, when I'm exercising during the day, I can't have temps above 73, or I get overheated, dizzy, and nauseous. After more study, last night I was able to schedule the temps I want the Nest to use throughout the week. As I just did this last night, I am not yet sure how well the schedule will work. My _phone_ says the schedule is still the way I set it this morning. I'm crossing my fingers that my preferred temperature schedule will hold. I will update after we've used the Nest for a few months. Suggestion: If you have several thermostats in your home, you may want to consider where you are most comfortable having a Nest maintain the "Eco" temps of 70-75. If I had known what a pain it would be to program this thermostat to suit our needs where we put it, I would have put it downstairs, where we have multiple reptiles that need temps 70 or above. The Nest would have been happier there, LOL. I have not tried to integrate it with Alexa, as all I have are Alexa speakers. ... show more

  • Accurate Thermostat
Simple to installed, but this is my 3rd install. Much more accurate than the original thermostat that came with the furnace.

  • Easy to install
Did not use Alexa or tec support. But it works great as a thermostat.

  • Broke 50 days. Don’t waste your money!
The unit wasn’t installed 2 whole months before it stopped working properly and no longer recognized any WiFi signal. Working 7 days a week I paid $279 for a high end thermostat and ended up with a project. Don’t buy this thing!
