Where to begin. The light (approx. 3"x20") itself is mounted in a multifinned cast aluminumn frame which weighs about 24oz, it seems pretty beefy and sturdy. And gives off a good amount of heat when lit. Electrically it comes with an insulated cord consisting of battery ring connectors (1/2" I.D) on one end going into a blade type fuse holder (w/fuse and three spares) then into a relay then onto a toggle switch (which can be wired to light up all the time or just when the light is on) then ends with two spade connectors. The light assembly didn't come with spade connectors attached (see pic) (in case you wanted to add another light??) but the kit did come with two separate spade connectors. So all you need is a crimping tool (see pic) or if push comes to shove as they say, a pair of linesmans pliers. Practical information. From the battery terminal end to the relay it's 21". From the relay it splits off two ways, one to the switch (80" long) and the other to the light (approx. 11' long). The light assembly consists of two swivel brackets that attach with the included nuts/bolts/lock washer and also included are two nuts bolts etc to mount the brackets to wherever you need it to go. My ONLY disappointment is the washers for the brackets are too small, they tend to fall into the swivel channel of the bracket. (see pic) Also note: Mounting blocks are secured to the light casing by hex bolts which appear to be mounted in a channel, so you can adjust the width between the swivel brackets to fit your installation(see pic) The million dollar question. How bright is it?? Let's just say you'll need a new pair of retinas if you look into this from anything less than 30' away. But since I have a 12v deep cycle battery sitting in my front entry (who doesn't, right?) I decided to light up my living room (see the before and after pics) and yes my wife was abhorred that I would take a pic of the house without first cleaning it up, I'll file that advice away for next time. (eye roll) You can see there is definitely a hot spot, but the ambient light it puts out is sufficient. For reference the light is about 20' from the fireplace. It's only 126W so it's not going to replace the sun, but I do a lot of night fishing, so I plan on attaching this to my boat through the "cigarette lighter" accessory outlet. So we'll see if the waterproof claim holds true. I'll let you know. Overall a great little light. I'm impressed with the thought that went into the design and its versatility. It's almost as if it was designed by someone who uses these lights instead of someone sitting at a desk just guessing what would work best. Which happens far too often. ... show more
