  • Introduced to this game by an Occupational Tgerapist, had to have my own!
Style: Pop the Pig Game
My son is a few months shy of 4 years old. He sees a speech therapist for a language disorder and also sees an OT for sensory purposes and and social communication issues (goes hand in hand with the language delay). One issue he has is staying regulated once frustrated, and with turn taking. It was months that we saw his OT weekly, before games were introduced. For the past month, they have spent a short time each week, playing this game. I didn't read about the various ways to play, I only know how our OT presented it. The gist of it is, the pig is fed food, you pump his head 5 times if the food has a 5 on it, 3 pumps if it has 3, etc. With each pump, the pig's belly expands until finally, his belt pops open Pop the Pig! The first week, her goal was just for him to put the "food" into his mouth. This is great fine motor practice, and a practice in patience since the task was not initially easy for him. The next week she asked him to name the number, then out the food in. Then she would help him pump the pig's head the corresponding amount of times. This part is hard for him, not sure how easy it would be for other kids. The last two weeks, she added turn taking and asking for specific colors. This might sound simple to you, but for my child these were all big accomplishments- being able to expand the play. He lives when that belt pops open! Each week my son would run to her game closet and pull out Pop The Pig. After the second week I put it in my Amazon wish list and I recently ordered, and received it. It will be a Christmas gift. I can see my five year old enjoying this game with her brother, and I know my 11 year old will join in his younger siblings play, too. I think there is tremendous value in this game, both for typical children, and those with different needs. ... show more

  • Fun

I have a great time playing this with my 4 and 5 year old. They also play nicely independently with this game. If you're kid put everything in his or her mouth, I suggest parental guidance but my kids are a little older so I can say that they can play on their own and enjoy.

  • Granddaughter LOVED and she made it the Christmas favorite for entire family.
Style: Pop the Pig Game
We purchased for our 4 year old granddaughter for Christmas. She was bouncing and saying I wanted this so bad as she ripped the first piece of wrapping paper. I did not know this. I had just went over with parents to confirm she didn't have it. She had seen a bunch of commercials for it after I spoke to parents. I purchased this like most gifts based on other's reviews. (So thank you to everyone that took the time to do this) Every member of the family played that game with her on Christmas and according to her dad it is a nightly ritual now. She did change the rules which I thought was funny, it is whoever gets his tummy to pop is the winner. She gets so excited every time anyone feeds it, it's contagious and she has everyone into her pig. I wish you could buy more of the pieces. Even though she has not lost any, we had 2 times where the pig needed more food so no pop or winner. I looked online and haven't found anywhere to buy them. That would be the only negative I could think of would be them offering additional food pieces you could purchase. We had this issue with all the pieces and we all know eventually all children end up losing a piece or two on games like this over time. Highly recommend though, it was the Christmas hit. ... show more
