Description

‘Going Home… Renting to Home Ownership in 10 Easy Steps’ is a book about making it simple to become a home owner. Certainly, there are challenges today in the economy. Damaged or rocky credit can make it seem all but impossible to become a home owner, and stop renting. Where does one start to unravel a messy financial situation? This book breaks down the process into 10 separate parts, and covers a lot of ground. It not only addresses how to understand your credit situation, and how a bank or lender looks at your history, but how to improve and repair it too. It also addresses the problem of having a ‘zero’ credit score, and what are the right steps you can take to improve even that situation. It makes it easy to understand the entire home buying process from finding a Realtor to choosing a lender, and all the other professionals you will use along the way to make your purchase of a home the right choice for you. The book explains how to narrow down a home that meets your needs, and know when you have found it. It discusses how offers are made, negotiated and how to choose an experienced Realtor that can help you through the process. It also covers basics on what commitments you will need to meet along the way, as well as gives you as a home buyer an understanding of what to expect at closing and after. The book takes the mystery out of buying a home, and gives one a clear route to becoming a home owner even if starting out on the quest with a rocky start. ‘Going Home… Renting to Home Ownership in 10 Easy Steps’ will guide you and help you navigate through all the barriers that you may think are in your way. If you have ever wanted to stop renting and own your own home, then this is where you should start. Read more

Format: Kindle
I downloaded this book awhile back and shared it with a friend of mine because I had read some of this author's other real estate books. My friend was beginning to look for a house. After she read this book, she called me really excited because she had learned so much about fixing her own credit. My friend told me that because she and her husband had taken a few of the steps he recommended in the book, that they were able to qualify for a loan at a much better interest rate than they previous expected after they disputed some things they did not know were there on their credit report. They were lucky enough to be able to get a few things removed in a matter of a couple of weeks, and recently met with a loan officer a few days ago. So following their experience, I read the book myself, and I was amazed at how much I did not know about repairing credit and buying a house. It helped me to understand how to straighten some issues out on my credit as well, and I am now working on that. I also found the book extremely informative in helping to get into the right mindset on how to buy a house, and I wish I had known some of these things when I bought the house I have now. Should I ever need to go looking for a house again I am definitely going to follow these steps! Looking back, it would have saved me a lot of money. ... show more

  • Good info but hard to read
Format: Paperback
Let me first offer my disclaimer that I received this book in a goodreads.com giveaway. I am not in the home buying phase of life; however, I have children that are so I thought it might be sueful to read this book so that I could offer some sage wisdom when/if they ask for my assistance. The author represents himself as a realtor and his familiarity with home selection, financing, and common pitfalls is evident. From an informational standpoint, the book is easy to follow and written at an easily understood comprehension level. I hate giving bad reviews, but there were some other issues with this book that made it very difficult for me to perceive this author as an expert and made it even more difficult to continue reading beyond the first page. The layout, font, conflicting font, and shadowing of the chapter titles was distracting and actually gave me an awful headache each time I tried to read the book. Eventually I aborted the attempt and did not finish the book. If you are considering buying a home and are simply seeking information, this might be your book. If you are bothered by the visual aspects of book design, you may want to avoid it altogether. ... show more
