Bought because needed to have a royal blue color for a customer project. The "shiny vs the shiny side from the non-shiny side is hard to determine. The use instructions were not very clear on that and working with it can lead to frustration depending on the detail of your design. I will share what I had to do to get this HTV to work but you may have different experiences. The first 3 tries I could not get my machine to cut through the vinyl all the way so using trial and error I ended up creating my own custom (manual) setting for the vinyl. I set the Fine Point to 200 and the Deep cut to 200 and also used "more pressure" option. There are many tutorial video on how to create custom material settings. Make sure the tools you use for weeding and cutting are SHARP because I had to be careful not to rip HTV the wrong way and ruin the work.

I was really worried about this when I first opened the package. There were stripes and just rough-looking patches (fingerprints, mostly). Also, it said to cut shiny-side up, which makes no sense because both sides are dull. So, I snipped a piece off and figured out which side was the carry plastic and cut with that side down. It really was easy-weed. The only issue was some dots wanted to come up with the weeding, but I just held them down with a tool while pulling up around them. The backing comes off easily after heat transfer, and it looks good. I haven't washed yet.

I've read other reviews regarding which side to use - but literally 2 seconds of slightly peeling back a corner and you know which side to use. This is the best value out there. I just bought several more rolls of this.

I had to come back and update. After playing around with the settings on my cricut and choosing htv non cricut vinyl..it cut through this thicker vinyl no problem. Weeding was super easy, I do use a light table that helps. I used a temp of 320 for 20 seconds on my heat press and I am very happy with how my project turned out. I will purchase this vinyl again! It will not cut on the correct side even after setting the cricut for more pressure. I thought maybe I loaded it wrong. I flipped it over and it cut through the carrier side but not down to the vinyl. I didn't realize it until I started to weed. The vinyl peels right away and I can see the cuts on the carrier but no cuts of any kind on the vinyl. I was trying to save a few bucks as I am making US Navy proud shirts for the whole family for my youngest son's enlistment. It turned into a complete waste of money and time. This stuff is junk!

Took me a few cut settings to figure this vinyl out. If u have cricut explorer air 2, use the glitter htv setting with more pressure to get it to weed easily.
