Description

Every business needs referrals from satisfied clients. A good referral can lead to a closed sale faster and easier than any other lead. But let’s face it. Asking for referrals can be awkward. • Excellent intro into the world of getting referrals “without asking”!!!
This is a practical, concise, applicable, and fun book to read. That said, the concepts are fresh, stimulating, but more importantly, you finally understand why we never liked the old school dictate: “Go and ask for referrals, because is the only way to get one”……Why?because we should generate them without asking! ... show more

  • What are you waiting for?
"The sun revolves around the Earth." "Bloodletting is the best way to cure illness." What do these statements have in common? They were all widely regarded as truth right up until they were disproven. In fact, some folks could not and would not be moved from their beliefs, new information be damned. Well, thanks to Stacey Randall's book, we can add another "truth" to the relic pile: "The best way to get referrals is to ask for them." Stacey makes a powerful argument for changing how we think about referrals, an argument that's informed by her own successes and failures as a business owner. But what makes this book so valuable are the concrete and imminently doable action steps for putting her philosophy to work. It's also concise, which I greatly appreciate. (Enough already with business books that read like the author was forced to repeat themselves ad nauseam in order to reach some pre-ordained page count.) So it comes down to this. If you're reading the recommendations to decide whether or not to buy this book, ask yourself one question: Would you rather spend your precious time and energy getting better at the wrong thing or learning a new, yet proven, way of getting results? ... show more

  • Practical, solid advice for getting referrals
In Generating Business Referrals, Stacey Brown Randall presents solid points about the downsides of the conventional wisdom that you should ASK, and the alternative she recommends resonated with me. Her approach is based on building and maintaining trust-based relationships over time, not a quick fix. Her 5 steps provide a clear roadmap, and the additional free resources are very helpful. With those pieces, I have all I need to create a solid referral plan. I had no problem (as some reviewers did) with her mentioning her other services. There was still plenty of solid content in the book itself, with practical tips and worksheets for setting up a system that continuously provides referrals without pressure felt by anyone. ... show more

  • 90% Repeated Filler. 10% Not Very Useful
Here's the book by the numbers: - 62% through the book is when you'll get to some of the actual useable tactics - 85%. through the book is where you'll get to some actually remotely usable tactics - 90% of this book is repeated filler. I've never read a book that repeated the same stories, fillers, and examples so many times. I'm convinced it was copy and pasted - 10% of this book is actual tactics. But this is sort of a stretch. The tactics are really just: Write down who has referred business to you. Pay attention to them. Repeat as some sort of system. That's really it. I bought this as a Kindle book so I know the percentages exactly. Only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is if you just need some sort of inspriration to focus on referral business. As for the idea of not asking for a referral, the author suggests you tell them you work by referral. To me, this is asking without asking. If you're in any sort of B2B business that isn't local (ex: CPA, Lawyer), than much of this doesn't help. If you are in a local B2B/C and you need the absolute most common sense tactics and inspiration in a very happy positive tone, then this might help a bit. ... show more

  • Repetitive and Fluffy
I was really disappointed by this book. Stacey did not get into the 'meat and potatoes' until page 77 and even then it was fluffy and repetitive. I unfortunately did not find any value from this book. Yes, referrals are from past clients and center of influence. How do we gain referrals? By building trust. I wish she would have given actual strategies. ... show more

  • Simple Genius
I liked that the program helps people not only get unsolicited referrals but shows you how to get them step by step and on purpose not just by accident. Most referral gurus focus on how to ask for more referrals but the simple act of asking can actually lead to less referrals making everyone uncomfortable. This book champions the idea, or why even go there when you can get more referrals without even asking. Where has this book been all my life? I liked to book so much I invested in her program and while I am still new at it, I have not been disappointed. I think this is actually a viable way to build your business as long as you either already are referable or you want to be. I highly recommend it. ... show more
