  • We Finally Got Our Generator!
Style: 76762
The media could not be loaded. In notes going back several months I have recorded a 76861 and a 76864 generator. One was on Amazon and one was at a local store. I never was able to determine the difference. When my last call to Generac customer service said that my wait time would be in excess of two hours ... forget it. I'll just take my chances that the differences are subtle. The generator that I actually got was a 76764 and it has the CO sensor. Something I wasn't wild about. From the git-go I was considering a Harbor Frt and a Generac. The Harbor Frt was more bang for the buck but given my location I thought service, should it be needed, would be a problem. Generac advertised Made in America. That was really important to me. I guess their ads referred to the whole house generators as mine was made in Viet Nam. Wasn't happy about that. I had been watching this generator on Amazon for literally months. It was mostly in the $1100 to $1200 range. When it momentarily dropped to $850 I jumped on it. I was surprised to find that it came in a box instead of a pallet as I was expecting. And it all arrived in far better shape than I had a reasonable right to expect. Only a couple minor scars on the outside of the box. The generator came essentially assembled. Just put on the wheels and handle and you're pretty much good to go. They were thoughtful (?) enough to put the assembly instructions on the outside of the box. The drawing showed 4 identical bolts. But they're not. I defy anyone to get them exactly right the first time not knowing this. The drawing also shows 5 washers. I never did figure out where that fifth washer belonged. The wheels are not pneumatic and I can see a problem moving it farther than out of the garage. Especially over rough terrain. All said, I'm very happy with the purchase. Just hope I never have to call the factory for anything. The CO sensor does work but it's not as sensitive as I feared it might be. It's plenty noisy though. ... show more

  • It powers my house
Style: 76762
I live in a very rural area and have lost power on a few occasions. This generator is so easy I was able to talk my daughter though on how to use it. It is powerful enough to do the whole main floor of a ranch style house

Handel & Wheel kit Amazing when the power goes out… 5 minutes I’m sitting in the lounger warm watchin’ TV I got this for $804.00 when I saw this price I hit the cart checkout. I’d recommend it. • Beautiful
Style: 76763
Never Owned a Generator in my life. We had our first storm the power went out. Put gas in this thing and it fired up my entire home. I didnt run the heat pumps I ran propane while the power was out. It was awesome. I got to say it takes a lot of gas and I would advise having at least 2 gas cans full with you because on about 5 gallons I got about 6 hours worth the run time. So if your out for days on end it could be costly. I will say sitting in the dark or generator Id go with generator 100 percent of the time. Very nice Machine. ... show more

  • Well, it works.
Style: GP3600 - 49 St.
Things to know, it's loud, no idle when nothing is drawing power. Full speed all the time. No 220v output. These are all things I should have looked into but bought this on a whim. Job site use I'm sure it would be fine, home use? No.

  • Picture and description was not advertised as the right model
Style: 76762
I think the product will be fine. Easy assembly, poured in the oil that come with it and started up on the battery no problem. Ran it for 6 hours for break in period and changed the oil and put synthetic in. The only thing I'm disappointed in is the fact that the picture and description did not match the model I received. I wanted the one without the Carbon Monoxide sensor, but received the generator that had the CO sensor. . . I was very disappointed to say the least. As a consumer I'm smart enough to not run this thing in an enclosed area, I don't need the nanny sensor. Besides, in an emergency situation, it's just one more thing to go wrong so the machine won't start. I'm using this for a backup whole house generator and I don't want this thing to shut off because it thinks there's CO when it's clearly outside in the open. Amazon and Max Tool should be more careful on how they advertise products like these. Other than that, I think the machine itself will be very capable, or I would have given it 5 stars. I will be ready for any power outages there may be. ... show more

  • Great Product - Using For Power Back-up During Outages
Style: 76762
I looked at and reviewed a number of portable generators to be used in case we lose power during storm outages, of which have become increasingly often in Southeast, Michigan. I began by looking at some at the local hardware stores, and most seemed to be the same, only rebranded. I considered a dual fuel (gasoline/propane), but finally opted for the Generac with electric start. Assembly was very easy, although the generator itself is quite bulky, but using some lumber for leverage allowed me to get the wheels and rubber feet installed, and after that, installing the handle and hooking up the battery were a snap. I added fresh gasoline, put in the oil that came with the generator, and then I gave a couple of pulls on the manual starter just to get the oil moving. Followed the instructions for the initial start, and it fired up without a hitch. I ran it for about 20 minutes, and plugged several tools and lights into the generator, and they operated as if on household current. The generator is well-built, using high quality materials. ... show more
