  • Fun
Pretty cool for messing around. It'll take you about as fast as you can paddle. Def fun to mess around with but I personally wouldn't use for anything serious. It technically requires you to license your kayak and if you're gonna go through that much trouble might as well have a trolling motor.

  • Works better than I thought. Well built. Sturdy power house and you are all set!
The media could not be loaded. Maybe use an older drill for the kids with a leash in case it ends up in the drink. got this just to putter around on the 6 man pond floaty. This is the test run

  • Purchased for a family member.
He is currently working on a fabricated mounting system with a purchased mount. He is very pleased with the purchase. A work in progress.

  • Cool concept
Great concept I use on a 12ft aquapod used an old motorcycle handle bar clamp and made a base that allows to pivot and turn. Don’t know how long shaft will last in plastic tube not sure if it has bearings. Bottom line I wanted a lightweight motor with a 18v drill attached it is perfect with a full charge I can go 1/2 mile full throttle and still have half charge left. Great for when paddling in head wind or tidal current works great after mounting to a pivot , have a feeling gearheads will take this concept to higher levels with better materials . Very happy with this set up and not done modifying it is set up like a mud motor on my yak. ... show more

  • I liked the concept but...
I bought this paddle because why not.. I loved the concept of having this as just incase backup. Might require needing some modifications to your boat, raft etc.. as it will scoot around from the force of the drill and will challenge your arms to keep it steady in the water. And even with a lot power behind the drill, I notice I was not moving fast enough to justify the effort. Maybe the weight of my water vessel, I will try it again in my raft to see if there's a difference. Despite my cons.. I'd say it's a good item to have considering the price and the concept. Your experience maybe different from mine and maybe I'm just a novice at using it at the moment. ... show more

  • Not a gimmick.
It does take some practice getting used too, so that being said, you'll prob want to mount something onto a kayak if that's what you're using it for because it does slide around and turning around with both arms is a pain, you'll have to attach a Bungie cord to the paddle and hook it up to a handle on the kayak or something study so all you have to do it hold the drill in one hand and the pivot point allows the paddle to stay in one place. ... show more

  • Well built and worth every penny!
This drill paddle will push you across the water quite nicely! I had been considering inventing a contraption like this to help paddle the large family floatie. I'm glad I decided to Google such a tool to see if it had already been done. I'm using a DeWalt 20 volt cordless with the 5ah (high capacity) battery. I recommend bringing a second battery. Mastering steering put me on a bit of a learning curve. It also works in reverse but not as effectively. Once I'm anchored, I put the drill in a sportsman dry box to keep it dry. ... show more
