Not for a man to travel in Alaska or North Dakota. Not even close for deep snow or crusted fluffy snow -you will be knee deep most of the time. Try Alaskan style wood ones-sorry.

When I was handed the box the end had been tore open and the plastic bag housing the shoes was tore in two places there were no poles, carry case or instructions / parts list? I will not order again!

I have only tried these in the yard so far but will be doing a 3 day backpacking trip soon! The weight is 2.5lbs per shoe! easy to use straps. I'll know more after put some miles on them. Thanks Trip went great had no problems within the 30ish miles of hiking in these. Clips are easy to pop loose and stay clipped. The straps get a little difficult when frozen with ice but what doesn’t. I am 175lbs with a 33lbs pack these made trekking a breeze. ... show more

Aggressive steel crampons, great easy-to-use bindings that are also quick release( like the expensive "name" brands)..in fact, comparing my new snowshoes to the ones in my local EMS or LLBean..the only real difference was price..in a lot of little ways, my inexpensive pair has nicer features, and as a big guy(6 ft, over 200 pounds), I need big snowshoes to hold my weight and gear and these are perfect! ... show more

Waiting for snow to test these out but they look great. Description says heel lift, but no heel lift. Also carrying bag was not included as described in item details. They were still a bargain.

I picked up different snowshoes for everyone in the family, but these were mine. I wear a size 14 shoe and push the upper weight limit on these. So if you're like me, you know just finding shoes that will work is an errand unto itself. I'm delighted to say that these fit great, and worked perfectly. As jealous as I was of my wife's lightweight shoes, these didn't feel too heavy to move around in, and were excellent for moving along light trails. I'm not so sure these would have worked out with ski boots, but they were just fine with my Merell hiking boots. ... show more

    • CLAWTOOTH GRIPS PROVIDE GREAT TRACTION

As a first time snowshoer I was a bit confused as to how to properly attach the binders to my boots and it didn't help that no instructions were provided with this set. Luckily there are numerous videos online. The boot straps tighten using tension which works well however after visiting those other videos I believe the ratchet style offered on others might be a better option over time. There is a lever that rises up under the heel which helps when walking uphill and the clawtooth grips on the bottom provide terrific traction. These are made of a strong aluminum making them light enough to carry on my pack and use without fatigue. The paint is durable and scratch resistant and the non-skid under the heel keeps my boot from sliding and stressing my ankle. They do not come with a carrying case or poles which would be helpful features. ... show more

I live in Minnesota, and I like to be outdoors whenever it isn't -10. These snowshoes aren't perfect, but they let me enjoy the regional parks during winter. I've used them in a couple different snows, and I've gotten mixxed results for usablity. If the snow is super fluffy, you'll sink right down, if it's a little more dense, you'll stay on top; since this is the same think that would happen on skis, I didn't knock any stars off for it. They are super lightweight so it's really easy to use them without wearing yourself out super quickly. The star I did remove for was the heel lock. This snowshoe doesn't require special shoes or anything, but the buckle on teh back is a pin and hole lock (like a belt buckle or watch band) made of plastic. I've seen other showshoes with teh tension clasp and I like that better. It's harder to get a PERFECT fit around your boot with this buckle type, but you can get a good/decent fit. ... show more
