    • What's with the heel thing?
I am a frequent snowshoer on woodland paths. I wore out my old set after many years, so ordered these. Maybe my husband and I are missing something, but how on earth is the metal heel wire thing supposed to work on these?? There are no instructions in the advertisement, nor in the bag. I ended up just using them as I would any other snowshoes. Tried them the 1st time today. They are better than my old pair in climbing up over hills. My biggest complaint is the way they fling snow up onto the back of my legs. Although I stopped to brush it off many times, my legs and mittens ended up cold and wet. My old snowshoes were much better in that regard. Other than that, I think I will like them, but definitely now need to invest in some sort of leg protection. I had read complaints about the heel strap not being supportive enough, but they held firmly on my feet, so that was not an issue for me. I do think I will use my old poles which are sturdier than the ones included with these snowshoes, in my opinion. Overall, these are decent snowshoes for the price. ... show more
