Young and Casey use humor and relatable stories, making the sometimes heavy topics of burnout and overwhelm feel lighter and more manageable. The tone is warm and empowering, making it easy to digest. What I really appreciated is how they break down complex ideas into simple ACTIONABLE steps, so you don’t feel like you’re reading a child care self-help textbook. By the end, you'll feel ready to tackle the biggest obstacles that greet you on a daily basis, like how to deal with staff who call in sick at the last minute to getting parents to refer you easily to other families to carving out more time to actually get things done in the office. If you’re looking for a book that gives you the tools to feel like a Child Care Wonder Woman, this one definitely has your back! ... show more

  • A Must Read for Early Childhood Directors
This book made such an impact on me! I have been in education for almost 20 years and have read numerous books an attended many professional development sessions. It is for me to come across something that wows me! I have been talking about this book with my staff the throughout its entirety, I have been quoting excerpts in my weekly staff updates, and I now have a vision board of improvements for my Childcare Center! I learned so much from this writing - the book reinforced topics I was already aware of, but really made me think of quality improvements I could make to the early childhood programs I manage. The authors' words impacted me and will most definitely make a difference in the work I do, the staff I lead, the children I serve, and the community in which I live! ... show more

  • Great advice, don't miss out!
The authors obviously have extensive childcare and childcare center management experience. The book is full of excellent advice that is time-tested and easy to implement. Before finishing the book I was already adopting their methods and seeing changes in my own personal time management and relationships with staff and parents. I look forward to leaning on this book heavily as we continue to grow our daycare successfully. ... show more
