  • Great read
I loved this story! The characters are great and the emotions tug at the heart strings. My only issue is that the author kept jumping locations. At one point they are in NC, but, in that very sane scene, they are said to be looking at the Golden Gate Bridge, which is in California. So, I would say the author just needs to be more mindful of where things are taking place and keeping it consistent. ... show more

  • nice book
I really liked jace and Millie in this book. They helped each other feel valued and also made them focused on their goals. There were some problems but at the end of the day they solved their dilemma and had their hea. Love this.

  • 3/5 ⭐️ 2/5 🌶️
This is the second book in Kings of the Water series but it is standalone. Jase finds out he has a son after a ONS because Tanner’s mom passes away. Tanner is now 3 and needs a nanny while he is training for his next Olympics. Enter Millie. Millie wants to pursue her dream of children’s entertainment (think Sesame Street) so she is great as a nanny. Her family does not feel this career field is acceptable. Jase helps Millie see her own worth. Here are my thoughts: Tanner gets sick a lot (croup, getting the wind knocked out and stopping breathing). Millie helps Jase navigate sick kids but it was a bit much. I loved seeing ASL and a learning disability represented. Jase messed up big time. I like how Millie was forgiving and honest about how it hurt her. Wish he would have groveled more. But it was also her personality to forgive. ... show more

  • Loved this book!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This is without a double, the moment I became infatuated with Jace Atwood. I’m ready to have all his babies, the whole shebang, and I can’t even put into words why.” Jace Atwood, an Olympic swimmer, opens his front door to an older woman holding a letter for him explaining that he has an almost three-year-old son. His life completely changes after that moment. He’s interviewing nannies to watch his son around his busy training schedule, and walks in a tutu wearing Emilia. With a history of attracting crazy women, Jace doesn’t think she’s the right fit for the job, but when his son starts smiling and laughing with Emilia, he thinks she might just be the one. For the job. There are so many things I loved about this book! It pulled me in from the beginning, and there were so many things that kept me hooked throughout. Jace and Emilia have such a strong pull towards each other, and when you add in Jace’s son Tanner, BOOM goes the dynamite. Emilia may just be Tanner’s nanny, but when these three spend time together, they’re like a little family and are just so cute together. Oh my gosh, Tanner. I absolutely loved him. He’s so cute, adorable, and is going through a huge transition in his life with living with Jace after his mom passed. I loved how American Sign Language was presented in this book, and it makes me want to learn it! Emilia is cute and quirky. She has a dream of performing on a kids TV show, and is between jobs when the nanny position becomes available. She really has a knack for kids, and is perfect as Tanner’s nanny. I really loved her character! Her family is a piece of work, and I couldn’t stand the little bit we saw of them. I’m glad it happened though because we saw Jace stand up for her and I just loved it. Jace is amazing! He’s sweet, caring, and the love for his son is unconditional. It took him some time to get used to having a son, but it didn't take him time to love him; that was immediate. Jace and Emilia’s connection and chemistry is potent, and I love how everything came together for these two. The events that were scary, but brought them closer together. The things that drove them apart, but they were so determined to communicate with each other and brought them back together. They are a great pair, and add in Tanner, and he just adds to the greatness. I also loved that there was more swimming in this book! ... show more

  • I loved it
What a beautiful story 😍 I adored Em from the very first second I met her and that love grew as the pages turned. Seeing her grow and stand up to the people who put her down is everything. And Jace and Tanner are perfect for her. She is perfect for them and that family dynamic is everything. He might be lost with this parenting thing but he’s trying and he loves that little boy so so much that it hurts in the best way possible. He definitely wears his heart on his sleeve and he knows when he’s messed up. Owning up to his mistakes is one of my highlights of this book. ... show more

  • dad love always from me
4.3⭐️ Definitely improved over the last book, but there were sections of it that just felt like the same book. Like the guys feel the same things and learn similar life lessons. Love Tanner though, and you know me, love those dedicated dads.

  • like it until the end.
I was loving this book until the reconciliation after the conflict. Millie never apologizes takes responsibility for her part of the conflict (writing the time down wrong, not telling him the reason for the meeting, not to mention saying something very mean and UNTRUE about Jace). Not saying he’s totally blameless but he did make an effort based on the limited information he was given. ... show more

  • so frustrated
While I enjoyed the book, I was so very frustrated with the “conflict”. This scene played out in such a way that the reader is supposed to lay blame at the feet of Jace, when both Jace and Em are very much to blame. It came of as feminist feeling when I never heard her apologizing out loud, and he had to grovel. I was so mad I cried! When this is what books, tv, movies and social media put into the world; how can we expect our little boys to be anything but over run by females? Both parties were in the wrong, both needed to admit that. ... show more
