Ordered this for my 10 year old for a Hermione Granger costume, and the size 10 (which she usually wears) was snug in the belly. She could've made it work, but I ordered a size 12 and it was fine, though the sleeves were long. I rolled them up, so she wouldn't be too hot, and it was fine. This is a high quality shirt with a nice cut, but it runs very small. My typically 10-12 size girl barely could wear the 14, and the sleeves were quite long on her (she is 90 percentile for height, so tall for her age, too). BEWARE: this button down runs very small. For reference, my daughter is a petite 11.5 year old and the size 18 fits her like a glove with a tank top underneath. Like others have mentioned, the material is very thin, so factor in being able to wear an undershirt.

This is a very nice shirt and looks great on. HOWEVER! SIZE UP! I have a very petite 10 yr old and I bought a size 14 based on another review and thank God I did because it JUST fits her perfectly. The length is just enough to cover her belly.
