I'm typically a 7-1/2, and I ordered a half size down, since many have mentioned that they run a little big. The 7 Medium fit, and they look exactly the same as in the pics. The leather is softer than expected, and the square-toe look is so attractive. They're classy and understated, and would look great with jeans or dress pants. One note--my feet are a little narrow, and so are these shoes. So if your feet are wide or a little on the wider side, you might possibly have an issue with the "medium width" version of these shoes. My pinky toe is a little snug along the sides of these shoes, but I think the shoes will eventually accommodate. The ankle also slides a little when I walk, but I have that issue with all shoes. These shoes are certainly not true to size. I wear 7-71/2 and I orders 71/2 and they look like a 5 1/2 or 6. No where near the size. Way too small. Sending them back and not reordering.
