This bed would be difficult for elderly or weak people to put together. It comes with metal couplers to keep it folded up during transportation. To remove the couplers takes a lot of strength. Once you remove the couplers, the bed clamps shut on the other end and it takes tremendous force to pull the mattress out of the folded frame as a result. Building the frame, I had to drill some of the holes bigger because two of them were too small for the supplied screws. Such sloppy manufacturing!

I recently moved into a much smaller place with my 2 daughters where we temporarily only have 1 bedroom to share so I needed a quick sleeping solution. I decided to try this portable fold up bed to help save space. The bed is packaged in a relatively small box for it's size so I almost thought I misread it and it didn't actually include the mattress. Fortunately the mattress was just air sealed and squished super flat. You have to open it first and let it puff up to it's full size which can take a couple days. Putting the bed together was a lot of work! It does not go together easily, that's for sure. 2 hours later and a few busted fingers later I finally had a fully assembled bed, minus one of the pins that did not line up at all so I had to get my dad to hammer it in place for me. Come to think of it, none of the pins lined up well and I really had to struggle with them. After getting it all setup, I realized that one of the hinges that holds the legs in place was upside down. This really is an easy fix but after all that work I just left it and hope for the best. The mattress is super firm and maybe it's just because I'm not used to it but it's not comfortable at all. As a full grown (small) adult (I'm 5'0" tall), this bed is tiny! I'm not a still sleeper so it felt like I was going to fall off all night long. The mattress velcros in place with loops but I still manage to dislodge it every night and wake up to it hanging way off one side of the frame. Also, the bed is noisy!! The pieces clang around with every small movement and it was waking my daughters the first few nights until the got used to it. The wheels roll super easily which is good for moving around, not so great for sleeping. Everytime I moved in my sleep, so did the bed! Luckily I found out the next morning that 2 of the wheels have locks which work great. Closing up the bed the first time was definitely a team effort, it took me, my mom, and my dad all pushing together to get it closed. 3 broken nails later it was finally closed but at least it's only difficult the first time. I can close it myself now with only a bit of struggle. The bed itself feels kinda sturdy but I wouldn't trust it with an adult heavier than say 150 lbs. This bed is definitely better suited for a child than an adult, if you're over 5'4" you're probably going to be very cramped in it. Knowing what I know now, I would not purchase again. This bed is not worth the $180 price tag, you can easily find much better options for less. I ended up giving up on the bed frame since it gave me too much trouble and now I just throw the mattress on the floor and sleep on that. Still uncomfortable but at least now I'm not waking up everyone with every slight move and if I do fall off it's only a short 5" drop!

This folds up to a small size for easy storage. Great to pull out when you have unexpected guests. I'm actually going to use it like a couch in my upstairs loft. Plenty of pillows and a couple quilts and it will make a great seating area until I need it for overnight company. I like it!
